Or, at least, pray to White Town - Women In Technology. It would be a spiritual experience, and very feminist! And then, maybe it would be fun to play with some play dough.
Or, you could just do your own thing. Whatever...

For International Women's Day
(Image from crystallinks.com.) It's International Women's Day in the WA Post Entertainment section. And in the LA Times World Now section. A guy brought in cupcakes to work to celebrate. "For International Women's Day" he wrote in a note on the top of the box. Another person (not a guy) got a parking ticket and just felt petulant. On the way home, she thought "Maybe one of my personalities would like to write a poem and call it 'Sometimes, a guy is a whore.'" Whore, whore, whore, whore, whore. Why so? Was Benjamin Franklin a player and a whore? Maybe some people were whores in a past life? Guys, girls? If it wasn't already dark out it might be a good time to walk in nature, but since it's too dark out, it seems like it might be a good time to read some Thoreau... "Nature is a whore," Nirvana sings in In Bloom. An interesting video. And, a kid can sing it.

Wed eve song(s)?
For some reason, this evening's song to get stuck in my head is Santeria? What tragic lyrics! Well, the uncensored ones. Hah. I always thought the end of the song was "my soul would like to weep," but that's not how the song goes. It looks like they had to make the video after the singer died, which is sad. But, what a corny, funny video...and, what a cute dog! Go, Santeria...and now, back to completing other monotonous yet necessary tasks...
~~~~~~
And then? And then I turn on the radio and that same song from yesterday (Karibu Ya Bintou) was playing, precisely at the beginning. Kind of interesting when that kind of thing happens. And! I learn a new word. Amanecer. Because when I checked the playlist to make sure it was the same song, it was messed up for some reason and this Volver - Ana Tijoux was what it said. She kind of reminds me of Bebel Gilberto.
So I looked up the lyrics and didn't know "amanecer." Hmmm. Maybe I'm supposed to continue this trend I've had lately of getting up earlier...
Funny line, page 47:
Okay. That was fun. I probably should do some grammar now.
Oat Straw & Nettles
LOVE & NATURE IS IMPORTANT
Well, this was a cheerier evening! I met a forest fire fighter at the park who was snipping away at the tops of some long grasses. He said he had a daughter with the same first name as mine, and that he'd text me some info about herbalism classes. We looked at oat straw and nettles. The nettles in the park looked different from the ones I remembered growing up in the Pacific Northwest. I also believe I found a California bay tree in another park today. Herbalism is really something I should pay a lot more attention to. I listened to "Little Earthquakes" on the way home in the car.
Bizarre book dream
A few days ago there was a strange dream, in which I wrote a dignified letter to a certain author telling him I did not like his book. Actually it was an earth tone flyer and I not only created it, I made a second copy to deliver to him personally. Weird. I would not ever do that in real life. Well, it made me think I should look at the Satanic Verses. In fact, I wonder what happens to the Allie Cone character. Does she perish in a particularly delectable way? That name is amusing; it makes me think of a dessert cranked out from a Snoopy Sno Cone machine.
O, What A Beautiful City
12 gates into the city...All-lay-looooooo
O, Father Abraham
An island girl moved with her family to a new neighborhood by the beautiful capital city of the country. It was quite a daunting prospect. She wasn’t getting along so great with the new Man of the House. But, in at least one respect, she was lucky, because right away, she met a nice new friend (from a different religion) at the bus stop. He was affable, easy to talk to, and wow, wasn’t she lucky? Alas, the world conspired to allow these two to drift apart…Many years later, she found herself wondering how. She meandered through a building of books (including ones about that other religion) and to her surprise there was another name she recognized, in one of the books. Oh my gosh. It was the name of a girl from a different bus stop. The one on the island! And that girl had actually converted to that boy’s religion. Truly, it was a very strange coincidence!
So, she was remembering that boy at the bus stop, and their nice conversations, and how funny that in a book, she should now read about that girl and she rememberedhow they also had nice conversations…
Ha ha. Just kidding! Never mind about that. Well, there was a lot of drug use on that island. High school girls can be very complicated. Although, some are still nicer than others! Oh well. At least, back in school, she had definitely seemed like less of a bully than…her little sister.
What if you were pregnant with your first child, and your friends highly recommended this excellent obstetrician to you, and then you made an appointment you found yourself staring at an old schoolmate. Oh…hi! Okay. So now I am supposed to entrust my body and child to that tall bitchy girl who didn’t know how to play nicely and used to chuck a basketball at my head in gym class…well! This certainly is an interesting conundrum… So…you don’t have any basketballs stashed away here do you? Ha ha. You know what, do you think you could just give me a referral? Thanks. I think that’ll be best. That’s very kind. Wouldn’t that be weird? After they grow up, how much do people really change? After listening to the funny Ben Folds version of Bitches Ain’t Shit, perhaps I’ll just need to take a walk and ponder some of these deep, spiritual questions. O, What A Beautiful City
La evening
I do believe that, for the first time in my adult life, I set foot in a Chuck E Cheese this evening. That was interesting. I give the birthday boy the rather adult gift of a card with cash. He seemed pretty happy with it. I witnessed the kidfest. I spoke with children and adults. I observed the ambience of Chuck E Cheese. And eventually, I ESCAPED. And so did the others...
~~~~~~
Also, I'm very happy to report that there were no mice massacres in Chuck E Cheese.

Dream wedge
This is a wedge of a dream. There were picnic tables, people, cliques.
A strange girl I didn't know was saying sarcastic things about me in front of some people. It was to a girl I did know, and it was in reference to a friend me and this girl both knew.
Some other people in that group asked this girl, the one that I knew, if this bothered her that this girl was saying those things about me.
The girl I knew told them, No. It didn't. She didn't give a $#@!.
I went away from all those people.
There was a tallish man hanging around some white buildings.
For some reason it seemed like he had been there and I had been around him for several days.
"You know, you are very silent," I said to him.
He looked surprised. "I know," he said, "but feel free to say whatever you need to say."
"I'm just thrilled you can talk," I said. "Think of all the things I've been saying these last few days," I said to him.
"You did say some things," he said.
I went closer to this man. "Is your name ****?"
He said, "No, it is ________." Something that sounded like it started with an E.
"What is your last name?" I asked him.
He said another name. It also sounded like it started with an E.
"How do you spell that?"
"I don't know how to spell it in your language. But, when I talk about going to my country, in my language, it's the same word as the last name."
Then I thought I would tell him a story about me and ****, but instead, I woke up.

2 Walks
One walk involved seeing a little girl and an older man. She was asking lots of questions. Why? this and why? that. They were walking down by a stream. They had dogs. He was getting irritated and mimicked all the "why" questions back at her. I think they were science questions. Eventually she stopped asking. She went down and up a ravine. The dogs were friendly enough but bounded away from her. Would she stop asking questions? Would she find another person to ask who would feel differently? Even though there was no way they could see me, I drew back and hid behind a tree when I watched them.
Another was a stroll through a grocery store. There was a very interesting dance going on between a little girl and her dad. The dad was a really big man and she would jump at him and kind of karate chop at his stomach. He was shopping and he'd hold out an arm and she'd jump up and hit at it and say lots of aggressive stuff, not swearing or anything but ha! I got you! that sort of thing. And he was just calm and shopping throughout. And every once in a while he'd say to her, see what happens when you do that...he moved along and she went along with him, and a lady behind the sample counter is like, hey, who is this! when she comes by with her dad. There was a table with crayons on it or something for kids and she rushes up to it--whats this! what's this! And I kept kind of running into them.

good or not good to wake up to music
Clicked on Jump this morning. And then went, wait.
Did I for the first time hear a misogynist lyric??
Did you try to beat a girl with a baton in the video?
Is it so? Hmmm, House of Pain. Hmmm.
Maybe let's incarcerate them.

Escritores
Writers shouldn't drink, even a little. But they do. Maybe, on occasion, it's necessary. Like, having to do some laundry. So...upon reflection, you know, sometimes there were moments of piety. There was a young man who came in and told two girls "you should be good girls." And the others, his followers, said, yes, he is right. You two should be good girls. Moments of piety. They were trying to give them good advice. But the girls only laughed...now I need to watch this Mexican movie I've always been meaning to see. Yo La Peor De Todas. I don't understand! Arrgh! I'm sure if I lived in a Latin American country for a week I would be able to understand that language again! Oh, and now I feel regret. My regret is that, in order to move across country, I may have given away a book I want to quote. I cannot find it. I shall have to paraphrase. Essentially, it said that there was once a man who placed a burning faggot on the pyre of Joan of Arc, and afterward, he was deeply afraid, for he feared he had burned a holy woman.
If you look at life in a certain way
There's actually quite a lot of genius in the world.
This guy's song was on the Verve Unmixed 2 CD.

This is the most recent thing that came up for his name:
Hugh Masekela trumpets...
