Help us, Universe.

It's very challenging to be affected by ailments and find that you cannot fulfill the expectations of either what you thought you would be doing or what others think you should be doing until you get better. I am hoping to get so much better at receiving all kinds of healing, so I can go out and do more "stuff" in the future, but because of my circumstances, learning how to get better at healing and learning how to be much healthier is gonna have to come first for this person, in this body.

I guess I am here to humbly ask the universe for help again.

I am grateful, too, that I have received some help. Healing is very important for a lot of people on this planet.

Since I got indications from the universe that I still need to get much better at healing physical health and also I need help with the experience of providing the best care for the human condition on multiple levels, I ask for wise guidance and good help now, please.

Off to grate good carrots by the light of the Jack O' Lantern.

A friend says that the costumes of the trick r treaters who came around carrying a homeless sign (a boy) and dressed as a boxer (a girl) were the best.

Maybe I will have to try to read GOT, too.

So far, she prefers the character of the girl who ran away from stitching instruction to find her bastard brother. She thinks the queen only seems to have power when she's pleasing men.

Okay, not so bad to know.

A girl who has processed a lot of trauma and works alongside some guys who are very into Game of Thrones will not be watching the show, but will read some of the books, and then give her opinions of them (the books). The guys think she's really gonna like Cersei. They're not very sensitive or kind souls. Men who expect better from their coworkers have quit because these guys are more comfortable with acting like jerks than the average man, but there's something about the place (like her better than average bosses) that makes her able to tolerate them and speak up around their nonsense, and that's very interesting.

Are they just real into whatever is the opposite of empathy?

People who get along well in environments that foster rape culture-y dynamics must really crave "fitting in" or "going along with certain societal forces," no matter how harmful, and they must also be great at shutting out others' experiences, I guess?

The holiday is not what it used to be.

A costume that says "The Department of Education gouged me this month thanks to the Supreme Court decision."

Ah, very good.

"'After rewatching Hell House, I was sort of relieved that I couldn’t find a Hell House or Judgement House near me. I was also surprised about their lack of presence. Perhaps their popularity has started to wane. I’ll miss my chance to go again this year. Possibly, I’ll never attend. To be honest, I’m glad for the near miss. I’m uncertain that I could make it all the way through the tour without losing my temper. I’m not sure I want to be close enough to touch the suicide or abortion girls. I don’t want my entrance fee to support their vision of the world, and I definitely wouldn’t stay for the altar call. Instead, I’ll take my kids trick-or-treating. My oldest wants to be a black cat or a bunny, and my youngest a pirate. We’ll celebrate Halloween with candy, jack-o-lanterns, and traipsing through the neighbor together."

The Cultural Values That Have Influenced People's Choices Can Bring Up Questions

"Hell House tortures women’s bodies to send messages about morality, chastity, and the peril of sexuality. The bodies of the lost are feminine in shape. A girl, who is date-raped at a rave, later commits suicide while being slut-shamed by a death monitor. An abortion gone wrong kills another young woman, but not before we hear her ear-splitting screams and see her anguish, physical pain, and so much blood. A husband chokes to death his adulterous wife. A drunk driving boyfriend crashes his car killing both him and his girlfriend. A disastrous drug deal begins with one dealer’s girlfriend being shot to death in front of him. Before these female characters die, men insult, threaten, choke, slap, push, and rape them. These young women die by their own hands or the hands of another, death monitors drag them to hell. An angel spares the abortion girl, who cries out to God to be saved. She finds salvation, but loses her life. Women’s bodies appear broken and wounded. They are clearly victims. Yet, the victims are the ones punished for eternity while their victimizers suffer no such fate. Hell House normalizes male violence while vilifying and damning female victims. Trinity’s teens role play at sin, but the effects of sin appear starker for young women than young men. Who wants to play as a rapist or domestic abuser? Unless they both walk away from consequences in everyday life and the afterlife. Salvation and damnation are gendered. Hell House makes that clear."

They could be useful for pointing out society's deficits...

"I worry about the messages that Hell House provides audiences about violence and victimhood. Why are women’s bodies the particular media for Hell House’s message? Why must their female characters be broken and damned? In The Religion of Fear: The Politics of Horror in Conservative Evangelicalism, Jason Bivins writes, 'the body is the locus of the politics of Hell House.'[1] The scenes, particularly AIDS and abortion, suggest a conservative political ideology, in which characters are punished for supposedly choosing sin. Young female characters are damned for any encounter with sexuality. Bivins argues that these Christian haunted houses are antifeminist. I want to push his analysis further. This particular version of the religion of fear is not only antifeminist, but misogynist. Hell Houses are built upon the fictional destruction of women’s bodies."

Dedicate & Self Educate & Learn & Re-dedicate

Even though I still have so much to learn, I know that people deserve to feel well, and they deserve to heal from trauma. I am a beginner at it, still, and I am learning. There are many others who know more about healthcare, and I want to begin to become much more familiar with good, effective ways of healing my trauma, and that could help us to heal our collective trauma, too, as a society.

Nature is so important.

The shy cats where I used to live are important, too.

That's good to know.

It may be that, in addition to discovering more about some of the healing qualities that are found in nature, the strengths of some of the quieter & more centered & grounded people could be real role models for some of us.

C'est la vie. Today's today. Do what you need to do.

At least for now, it is clear to me that I  can only dip a toe into certain areas because my brain and body are requiring me to still learn a lot more about health and healing. It's a process, sometimes. Breathe, beginner, breathe. 🙏🩷

"The spirit and solidarity of those strikers — and their emblematic rallying cry, 'Si, se puede' — are emulated to this day by political campaigns and portrayed in various books, documentaries and motion pictures.

But those romanticized narratives, Paiz said, can be limiting.

'The heroic and tragic story of the UFW movement is less about individual leaders and more about the larger anti-union currents of the era,' said Paiz, who was born and raised in Coachella Valley. 'It’s about the reality that strikers lived through, the love they elicited for one another, and how those experiences compel us to recognize that we're tethered to them, and to history, whether or not we want to be.'

Berkeley News spoke with Paiz recently about some of the hidden figures of the UFW movement, what their lives were like as strikers and how we can leverage their accomplishments to, as Paiz says, 'build a better and capable world.'"

Isn't that interesting?

It's not crazy to be more compassionate and concerned about the climate and the planet and the people who feed you than you were perhaps raised to be by the cultural norms you were brought up in. It might be a very natural thing to want to acknowledge that things need to get better.

"End the discriminatory treatment of farmworkers"

"THIS SEASON’S TORRENTIAL, climate-driven rain and floods devastated the Massachusetts farm economy, damaging over 110 farms, 2700 acres and causing millions in crop losses. Fortunately, the state and federal governments, as well as individuals and philanthropies, quickly responded to farmers’ pleas for emergency relief. Those responses should be loudly applauded.

But what about farmworkers? Recall that farmworkers were among those lauded as “essential” during the COVID epidemic for their heroic efforts that kept us all fed.  But collective short-term memory fades quickly. The current emergency farm relief efforts offer no direct assistance to Massachusetts’ 13,000 farmworkers and their families – more than 2,500 who work in Hampshire and Franklin counties alone."

Feelings are in this life for a lot of reasons.

When you're hurt by the ignorance and actions of some people, it can be almost too easy to feel upset, but when you are in a place where you can admit you can grow and learn more and change, some very good things can begin happening, and there can be more delight and celebration in the new ways of doing things than you had previously considered possible.

Learning opportunities multiply

"Kraft Philadelphia Cream Cheese - Spreadin' The News"

https://youtube.com/watch?v=aHzI43Hd8iI&si=ONhTEYpfUzGtDywl

There's a spiritual person who told me that trauma happens because when we're children, we're kind of in a state of hypnosis and lots of stuff gets inside our heads that we carry around into adulthood, like we're wearing a backpack, and when we hit a certain point, the backpack opens and stuff starts spilling out so we'll deal with it.

At least the "cats are nicer verse" is there to help.

Whenever the universe sends yet another message to me that downplaying the suffering that results from misogynistic cult-like behavioral patterns just to fit in with Certain Patriarchal People's Norms is just not ever going to be the right path for me, it's a reminder that processing certain traumatic experiences is a valid and necessary step towards healing.

It's also very humbling. I cannot be the "mine was not to reason why, mine was but to do or die" type in this body, like some people are.

Corb Lund – "Horse Soldier, Horse Soldier"

https://genius.com/Corb-lund-horse-soldier-horse-soldier-lyrics

(Good song, though.)

It's like, once the veil is lifted, you simply can't go back, even if others do not seem to see it that way, for some reason.

I'm alive to become a better person.

It kind of was a good reminder, though.

If you work at a place that has people who start to remind you of the unsafe misogynistic guy in a dark parking lot, and it feels like the ones in charge won't do anything about making it better than that, and you get panic attacks and bad dreams as a result of that dynamic, then that's really not a good place for you.

I feel grateful to live with a good, nice, level, low-key man.

An unwell man in a dark parking lot muttered a misogynistic phrase from a rap song at the world in general and looked at me and did it again and it made me change my plans this evening and come home and know that I need more healing and so do other people, including people who make excuses for behaviors which traumatize others. I will just have to work on healing some stuff again this evening. Blessed be the skilled healers, and maybe I will be able learn more about such things very soon.

Public Health May Triumph Tomorrow!

“It’s really not a public health triumph that people have to mobilize the financial and social resources to travel, sometimes hundreds of miles away from their home, to obtain basic health care,” said Dr. Alison Norris, co-chair of #WeCount and association professor at The Ohio State University’s College of Public Health. “That’s really a public health crisis.”

Why don't you get more invested in your health

So what's traumatizing to your body and brain is interesting to you and maybe could even become a fun journey instead of being ashamed and hiding the "different" things and the "pain you're trained to ignore to accommodate the stuff that's actually very not healthy for you."

How to heal a body?

The upper left side of my mouth sometimes tells me it needs healing right around where there's a crown that fell out in the past because almost no tooth is left and I think it's next to another tooth with a kind of "sassy" root so I don't exactly know what's happening.

How to be...

The cat naps on my ankle. The cat frolics outside in wet grass. The cat naps at my feet again.

"You know what they say, two is better than one — even when it comes to nepo babies. And there’s a new nepo union to celebrate with TMZ reporting that Frances Bean Cobain and Riley Hawk married earlier this month. Cobain, the daughter of Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love, and Hawk, the son of Tony Hawk, were wed on October 7 in Los Angeles after dating since at least January 2021. (Cobain was previously married to the Eeries singer Isaiah Silva.) Naturally, they kept it in the family; the ceremony was officiated by R.E.M.’s Michael Stipe, Cobain’s godfather. (No word on whether her godmother, Drew Barrymore, attended to celebrate fellow nepo children.) Congrats to the lucky couple, their famous parents, and their potential future children who will one day run society."

Oh the best...

Was starting to fall asleep while listening to "Abraham Hicks - 'Why Does God Allow Pain & Suffering'"

Because the falling asleep aspect tells me it's good to cultivate respect for the need for rest.

Everything passes and new patterns begin to develop beautifully.

Some say "The only way out is through," and i guess i just discovered it was Robert Frost who said it, and maybe his meaning was not mine. You begin feel as if you are closer to a relative who got deemed "insane" than you are to any famous dude you met who has surfed the wave of present day Patriarchy. The only way out is through. People who you thought were different became the ones who let the tragic patterns continue... The only way out is through. Those choices are just other kinds of lessons. Onward to the next great lesson.

How can anything last forever? It is the nature of the universe to change.

There will be better times. Sometimes people choose to push away others because they're unsure or they're feeling fragile and they dont want to show it. Learning more about how to become a healthy person is a good way to find out how to let the next piece of life unfold.

How fragile humans can seem, sometimes.

If health concerns were always "in the way" in the past, maybe those concerns will help you to become more guided to going in a new direction.

Lifetimes have lessons.

Tonight suggests that sometimes, one lesson might be... Experiencing the humility of knowing that who you are in this body and in this lifetime couldn't fit in with some systems, and it felt like some old patterns were not created to include you, and you're going to have to change to get to be the more healed person you want to be.

"Jonathan Ofir, an Israeli-born Jewish musician, conductor and writer based in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, is also a pro-Palestinian protester critical of Israel's bombardment of Gaza."

“'Israel claims Jews as its national asset, and it weaponises us, as Jews – both as bodies in the demographic battle vis-a-vis non-Jews and particularly Palestinians, and ideologically as born representatives of the Jewish state – [and] seeks to do that to Jews worldwide,' Ofir told Al Jazeera. Lead singer Dan Reynolds told the audience 'It’s not normal to have such a big crowd,' adding: 'Tel Aviv, we love you.'

The band's Jewish drummer Daniel Platzman was also on stage and joined his bandmates in performing at Reading and Leeds festival last weekend before jetting off to Tel Aviv.

The targeted house was metres away. I wake up, terrified, trying to get the cats with my sister, but this time I can’t. There is such a loud buzzing and ringing in my ears that I can’t focus. I can’t balance either.

My sister gets the cats, and we sit on the couches, as usual, waiting for a cue to move. Minutes later, she opens the door of the balcony, we can’t see anything for dust. Later, Ahmad goes to check and see what is happening. Ahmad – enthusiastic, positive Ahmad – comes back covering his body with his own hands, as if he is trying to hug himself. Mischievous Chicken Man

"His newly developed public speaking and acting skills won him the role of Karkour, the most famous television character in the Gaza Strip. Karkour, a mischievous chicken, was the star of Al-Aqsa TV’s program Tomorrow’s Pioneers, which hosted children from all over the Gaza Strip.

Hamada’s character attracted an audience from all over Palestine and even the Arab world, where kids would call to protest Karkour’s jaywalking, shouting over the telephone and other such annoying behaviors, and suggest to him more well-behaved alternatives.

Early this year, Hamada won a small role in another TV show that started airing this Ramadan but was stopped due to the ongoing Israeli onslaught.

The death of my brother will come as a shock to the large numbers of children whose favorite part of Friday was watching Karkour misbehave and helping him change into a better Karkour, thanks to their advice, only for him to relapse at the start of the next episode into another anti-social behavior.

By killing my brother, Israel has surely has killed a promising talent, and deprived thousands of children of a funny and educational program."

This was an interesting experience, too.

"Everything went black."

By Caitlin Johnstone

"I used to be pro-Palestinian. I thought Israel was wrong for carpet bombing Gaza and using siege warfare on civilians.

But then I ran into a very wise Israel apologist who changed my way of looking at things forever.

I was walking down the street and I saw him leaning against a lamp post, smoking a pipe as wise men do.

“Your shirt says Free Palestine,” he said from behind a plume of smoke.

“Yep!” I replied.

“So I guess that means you love Hamas then?” spake he.

I stopped in my tracks. I’d never thought of it that way before.

Could it be? Could my opposition to murdering civilians really be indicative of a deep affection for a Gazan militant group? Maybe I really did love Hamas and think everything it did on October 7 was great and wonderful?

“Is this really how I want to live my life?” I thought to myself.

“I — I — I…” I said out loud.

“Or perhaps,” he said with a raised eyebrow, “you just HATE JEWS??”

I fell to my knees.

Oh my God. He really had a point. What possible reason could anyone have for opposing military explosives being dropped on buildings full of children besides a seething lifelong hatred of adherents to the religion of Judaism? How could anyone possibly oppose siege warfare tactics which cut off civilians from food and water and electricity and fuel and medical supplies unless they harbored a dangerous hostility toward members of a small Abrahamic faith?

“Who… who are you?” I asked.

“That’s of no consequence,” he said, casually blowing a smoke ring through another larger smoke ring.

“But… but the children,” I stammered as my entire worldview crumbled before my eyes. “The civilians! They’re dying! Isn’t it bad that they’re dying?”

And then he went for the coup de grâce.

“Have you considered,” he said before a pregnant pause, “… that all of those deaths are the fault of Hamas?”

I fell flat on my back. The world was spinning. A trickle of blood ran down into my hair from my ear.

I felt all the anti-colonialism leaving my body. I suddenly could no longer remember why I thought it was bad to rain down military explosives on a densely populated concentration camp.

Everything went black.

When I finally came to, the mysterious stranger was gone. But his wisdom and profound insights into Israel and Gaza will always live on in my heart."

But after a pair of unusual back-to-back summer storms washed vegetable seedlings out of fields in the eastern Coachella Valley, Santiago had to find another seasonal job. She’s now sorting dates in a small packinghouse, working just 20 hours a week, with at least 21% of the date crop damaged.

Santiago had already been struggling to support her nine children, ages 3 to 24, even with help from her oldest son, who works in the fields by day and a restaurant by night.

I am okay with it, and more than okay with it.

I am glad I had a strange upbringing.

I hope good people and good cats meet and help each other.

Sometimes I get a wave of feeling so disappointed about not being able to save the cat and her kittens. I know it's probably like an inner child thing. I wanted some other things to be better too.

Three delicious sizes!

Cat Blessings

Sometimes I still remember the dream for the inner child about getting to take both this cat and another cat with kittens to a farm, and I think about how if I lived closer maybe I would be giving food to the cat who touched her nose to my finger...and then I remember that other cat people lived there, and hope for the best.

You're gonna come back, & it's gonna be different!
