I felt like my ego can't deal with how flawed I have decided to look for hopefully some higher purpose to serve the greater good and now my cat has decided that I am the best person for her to purr on and cuddle up with now. Maybe I'm here to help the cat ladies of the world. There's a lot of them.

I kind of feel like I did well enough for myself today.
I feel compassion for my younger self who was already in the middle stage of life and didn't know what to do and was looking for healing and community.
Tonight I was just by myself and I went to the Disneyland of pumpkin patches, and on this particular day, I could get in for free because I was a local. And now my curiosity is satisfied. I didn't feel tempted by any of their food because I had chocolate cake in the middle of the day. And I walked around for several hours.
I actually think I have more peace of mind now than when I was younger. And remember when I went to an event featuring Amma, the hugging saint. The entourage that was with her seemed not very friendly, so I decided I was only visiting their community. But I remember thinking I just don't know what to do or how to feel better.
Sometimes I would go to a free meditation class, with optional donation, and I actually felt like going to this class was helping me preserve my sanity. A lot of traumatic stuff was happening. But even there, the guys in charge would sometimes make these weird jokes. And I noticed that some women in the class would look at each other and frown, and I didn't really care for the jokes either. I was thinking things like, I'm trying to heal from some very serious stuff and you have to ruin the peacefulness with your joke even though you have all this wonderful meditation knowledge.
But some sexist humor was coming through even though the meditation man was with a spiritual girlfriend. But it's possible that somebody else talked to them about it or else they picked up on it psychically because then at another subsequent meditation session they were confessional and shame-faced about the sexist thoughts they'd had in the past. They said that when they were younger they used to look at women as makeable or not makeable, and then they realized that they were not well in looking at women that way.
Well, that was a long time ago but I was thinking about it lately. Even as I was walking around the pumpkin fair with my thoughts. There were some very young people on dates and two couples at two separate places asked me to take their picture. I'm kind of glad I looked like a safe person to them.
Back to my thoughts about the meditation guy, back in 2009 or so. I remember when he said he and some friends were on retreat and then they went out to get an ice cream cone and the sound of police siren went off nearby and they were in such a strange state of mind that they ducked under the car dashboard to hide because they felt like they were going to get arrested for indulging in an ice cream cone.
That was a funny story.
Way to take the edge off the end of another long work shift when you've hit rock bottom during that financial collapse in the 2000s.

As I read this. I think of my own wife and children and imagine that unwanted reunion. I can see the smile of recognition on the face of the child.
The Viskoopers traveled together to Poland. Then, on arrival, Michel Viskooper watched as his wife and daughter were taken from him and driven away on a truck.
Michel, Miepje's father, was one of just 5,200 Dutch Jews who survived the death camps, but he returned to Holland alone."

I think the time for a cultural shift in values is now.
X: It feels like something's happening now that I wish had happened years ago because of how people are talking about the Cornell case.
Y: But why now? What about that guy at Stanford? What about Bill Cosby?
X: That was different because it was one person. People could point at them and say those are the bad apples. But this is about groups of people and people are talking about how men collectively as a group act and how it's harmful. It's the seven guys who raped the girl. But it's also the other guys in the fraternity who got the text, the fifty who didn't do anything to stop it. And it's the men in charge at the school, and how they acted like it wasn't very important, and they didn't care about it. It's about how a lot of men have been behaving collectively about this topic, and a lot of people are finally speaking up about it and criticizing it and saying it's wrong.
Also, I know this is not necessarily how other people feel, and I know that it's not on purpose, but do you know how I feel when somebody or when groups of people collectively decide that, say, an athlete who is very rich and supported by our patriarchal society is accused of raping somebody and they decide to say that she lied and that he's the good one. That to me feels not that different from the fifty other ones who didn't bother to stop something bad happening. They didn't rape somebody, but they also didn't care enough to stop it from happening or to acknowledge her as a human being.
I understand that it's not exactly the same thing but emotionally and psychologically that's how it feels to me. It feels like a lot of people are not that different from those fifty others in the fraternity who just couldn't be bothered to care.
And it's been going on like this for so long, and this is the first time people seem to be collectively standing up together to say that's not good enough, and human beings in our society deserve better than this.

For lunch, I got a burger and fries combo and even though I ordered the small size of everything and only ate half the fries I feel terrible. I did laundry and I went for a walk after the meal and it was real difficult. I'm sure this would have been better.

It's good for people to see, acknowledge and articulate their point of views about what has been happening.
Patriarchal Society has wanted people to be quietly self-absorbed and to dehumanize the disenfranchised. And a lot of times, patriarchal people do get sucked into going along with what the Patriarchal Society has wanted them to do. Because they get short-term benefits from doing so. And that's been pretty sad to see and experience in this lifetime. Happy transition thoughts?
I loved the staircase of my grandmother's house. I still have good memories about it. It was an important space. I think I must have spent so many happy moments on it, anticipating either what was awaiting me upstairs or what was going to greet me down the stairs. Immediately upstairs where the bedrooms and immediately downstairs was the well-lit kitchen. And that was a place of creation and meals and blessings because prayers were always said before the meals. Upstairs, prayers were said before sleep, too. Love!

This is this life when your body says you need to make changes and take better care of it
Everything was real, and part of an important process, and yet it all has to go by the wayside anyway for something new.
I interrupted my fun Miss Western, I mean, my fun Midwestern documentary watching or whatever.
Looking up stuff about Illinois and getting nostalgic. That side of my personality that wants to be from a cozy little community is starting to come up. I don't know what to do with it. I'll just acknowledge that it's there. It's alive... I need to make myself do something cozy now. I think I need hot water. I need protection.
I think it's a good time to think about artistic endeavors.
Business can be creative, but I prefer artistic endeavors. There's more freedom, and there's more acceptance that there will be failure. Sometimes artists don't even get appreciated that much in their lifetime, and then after they pass away, people really appreciate their work. Well I don't know why that is important to me but for some reason it is right now. Maybe that could change in the future.
People are good. People can get better.
I feel like I've been doing some of what I should be doing, but it's been a bit challenging and scary sometimes, too. I've just been in the middle of having a human experience. It's been a certain type of experience. I think I might read that bell hooks book about love again this evening. I need feminist viewpoints in my life. Others don't seem to need that as much, but I really do. What is the nature of love when the universe want you to pursue it when it doesn't follow the script? That's an interesting question.
I know a lot of things can get better.
I'm really tired. Feels like years of suffering have worn me down. This is why I wanted to learn how to repair my health and feel better. It's like the body deserves so much better than what the insensitive patriarchal culture has to offer it.
The calmer state is coming back. It is possible. It can happen.
I am blessed to be able to see puffy clouds out the window and I think pressing on some points on my head without really knowing what I was doing has helped. I texted my sister while she's in O'Hare, which I used to live near. Other people are traveling for a funeral and I'm staying here. Travel seems better at another time. Maybe I can have a very zoned out week. Maybe I will change a lot of things about how I perceive and process this life. The calmness. I court the calmness.
I want to find a world that's more charitable and see examples of it.

My body let me know I was overdoing it again. Now it's hard to chew on one side. I think it's jaw tension. I really have to heal the nervous system. I don't understand how at one point of the day I feel like I can be one way, and then in another part of the day, I just can't be like that at all. But it is so.
