Hell hath no fury

like a woman living in a complicated body.
Teeth should not feel like rocks.
That's just one aspect...

Owls, earthquakes

Owls...
Little Earthquakes...

Certain stories

USMA Coed class of 80, More Women Than Ever, Porcelain On Steel.
"Leaders of the women's and civil rights movements are not likely to mention West Point as an archetype of advancement on their behalf, nor would they probably point to the U.S. Army as an institutional model of minority progress and opportunity. But West Point and the Army have been microcosms where small battles and victories have led to fundamental social change." --Donna McAleer

Such a moment

Big hall
Another's house
A girl named Ashley
Loved me
I was four
Show me how to blow milkweed
Draw a heart with an arrow
Big sister
Not by blood
But adored
Older and wiser
Big hall
Another's house
Spin me around
West Point, West Point
Like her father
They said she went
to West Point
like her father
Ashley, Ashley...

Once upon a time

There was an inept assistant who lost a mold
And then took the one size fits all bad model
And made a patient WEAR A ROCK IN HER MOUTH!
And fought with her about seeing a more qualified person.
Assuming that one exists.
And probably was that one that spoke meanly to an elderly patient.
Poor thing, she's probably just overworked and trying to make a living right.
But maybe not!
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Hang ten, hang ten honey...

"Do give her a chance to set it right side up again"

"I have heard the Bible and have learned that Eve caused man to sin. Well if woman upset the world, do give her a chance to set it right side up again."

"But the women are coming up blessed be God and a few of the men are coming up with them. But man is in a tight place, the poor slave is on him, woman is coming on him, and he is surely between a hawk and a buzzard."
--Sojourner Truth

Sssss

Sad swallows a crown. Funny way of getting a crown.
Sad sat and read sad texts.
Sad.
Sad better pay the bill so the APR doesn't rise to 27%.

Shhhh...so the tooth doesn't fall out.

A find

I have found...
San Francisco's Girls Chorus! There's a CD where they give an excellent performance of the most difficult piece I sang in a choir.
Part: Alto II.
Magnificat by Nicola Porpora
"During the period of 1726 to 1739 Porpora was engaged as a teacher of music by the "Ospedali degli Incurabili", one of four famous Venetian orphanages renowned for their high level of musical performance. The orchestras and choirs of these asylums were composed of girl inmates. The "Magnificat" was composed for the aforementioned orphanage and received its first performance there."
(Notes from inside my tattered 1998 booklet for Magnificat - Niccola Porpora - Edited by Ralph Hunter - Edward B. Marks Music Company -copyright 1967.)

Other winters

It was interesting to find a park. Like Sky Meadows.
To attempt to find relief or escape from what were then certain problems.
To rest, walking up a windy hill.
To find a little shelter to sit under, in cold weather.
To feel as if the essence of a Thoreau-like being was hovering.
Or just present.
It was cold. It was interesting.

Beauty of Life

Today I have a cold, still.
I listened to this song again.
Bebel Gilberto Winter Remix
It still reminded me of a high school friend I didn't know as well as I wish.
I still feel affected by knowing that now he's gone, at least in the form of the person I once knew him as.
Not so long ago, I was 15, 16, 17, 18....by the time those many years pass again I will be around a half century old.
What to do with that time?
