"70% of the Nation’s Poor are Women & Children"

It's healthy to have feelings that let you know that it's good to care and to want and believe that such circumstances could and should get much much much better.

Eh, why sleep if it's not happening

When I was a child, I was more often with girls than with boys so it seemed to me I preferred them. If I became friendly with a boy (and I did, as early as and even before kindergarten and 1st grade) that made it seem like he was special, and not like the others, although I suppose he was.

And now I like feminism. I like that it's become more acceptable to say so. But I believe a lot of people who are at all sensitive to inequality issues really suffered at a young age by being told girls shouldn't be a certain way or this sort of thing is off limits or it's up to you to keep boys away from you and shame shame shamey B.S.

So I know these things. And I really should put myself to sleep soon.

The median income for all female-led single families was $46,990 in 2019, about 70 per cent of what the median single dad income was at $66,830. In fact, at all income brackets single dads earned thousands to tens of thousands of dollars more annually than single moms."

Why did so many women friends and relatives of mine experience violence from men? Why does the patriarchy train so many people to not feel comfortable about caring enough to be able address this stuff? Why is 18 women being murdered by a serial killer not all that newsworthy? Why have only x% of women been CEOs or Presidents? Sigh. I am grateful for progress, but sometimes I want to live on a better planet.

What if patriarchal patterns are just weird

This is interesting again

"Many of the farmworkers we visit are indigenous people, displaced from their homeland by unjust economic systems. They have made the difficult decision to leave family members behind, seeking a way out of extreme poverty or other dangers in their own countries. Some never return to their homeland due to the financial dependency of their families and the risks involved in crossing the border. Many do not see parents, children and other loved ones for years; some never again."

X needs to succeed in the cult of worthless vaginia

That's why X needs the guy who has no problem being a dick to women. X has to think like that guy. X has to accommodate that guy's needs.

Optional not required

Gratitude for all the ways in which a society which treats a whole lot of women as if their experiences and needs are worthless treated me just a wee bit better than some of the others.

Is caring about women necessary?

If you can make babies yes! If you are a 12 year old in Texas this also applies. That is why we get these:

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2021/11/washington-post-pregnancy-center-coverage-texas.html

Otherwise it is like our fun cocaine, just absolutely not giving a shit about people like you. The system is structured to reward us if we don't care and penalize us if we do. Weird huh.

Why is that so?

"We have been rewarded for degrading and devaluing certain kinds of people for our entire lifetimes. The money is good. It's actually way more fun not to care about you and your lived experiences than it is to relate to people like you as empathetic human beings."

So expensive

"Dr. Kaaren Olesen is angry when she talks about it. A bottle of Addyi, the female Viagra, costs around $200 and is not covered by health insurance. Actual Viagra? That is covered.

“Women also have to sign a contract stating they won’t drink while using Addyi,” Olesen explains. “Despite the fact that Viagra has similar complications when used with alcohol, the FDA does not require men to sign a pledge that they won’t drink either.”

As the Supreme Court weighs challenges against Roe v. Wade, abortion has become, again, the focus of discussion around women’s healthcare. And undermining Roe, undermines the health and well-being of all women. But to merely focus on Roe overlooks some of the stunning discrimination against women that is currently allowed by the law.

The Addyi example is just one of the many ways it costs too much to be a woman in America."

Maid – Season 1 Episode 2 “Ponies” Recap & Review

Weird 70sish dream

I had a dream a mom wanted some nice floral curtains for her window and her kids didn't know how much they cost and were going to pull on them and ruin them. Seemed sort of like the 70s! Saving money for floral  curtains. Maybe they were bought on layaway. Why should the kids ruin them? Did they have the souls of cats?

I guess so

Even if they are not on Twitter

(the younger woman who talks about how males get treated differently than females when it comes to dress codes and uses words like "rape" and "you asked for it")

(the younger man who is affected by the experience of immigration and uses words like "loneliness" and "separation")

(the not quite so young woman who has had five miscarriages and health issues and uses words like "so embarrassed about my body" but "wants to find solutions")

and even if they are not in the income bracket of those who directly supply you with the $$$$ that you can put into your accounts

they still might contribute to your lifestyle in other ways.

So much to improve

"If the woman in the video had come forward about Stacy’s abuse, maybe a few weeks later, maybe longer than that — the average abuse victim will try to leave seven times before they actually make it out — it’s likely that her allegations, without the video, would go nowhere. Police would ask why she waited so long to report. So would the press. And the fans. Eventually, she’d be labeled by social media as a 'gold digger' who was just trying to cash in on her relationship with a former NFL player. Does anyone remember what happened with Janay Rice’s allegations before the video of Ray Rice punching her in the face and knocking her out exploded all over the internet? Neither do I. It’s almost as if the naysayers believe that every legitimate incident of domestic abuse is caught on tape somewhere and, if the victim can’t produce it, it’s proof that she’s lying."

Because things could be so much better.

Really tired of how the patriarchy encourages distressingly bad treatment of women who are low income or women who are in need of better health care. It is okay for exceptional wealthy women to recognize women in other circumstances as worthy human beings on this planet, especially when the unacknowledged ones are helping make the lives of the ones society recognizes a lot more comfortable all the time.

Some people will give you

Far meaner than they needed to be because they wanted validation from the patriarchy vibes.

Tell party house playing invasively loud music past midnight

Some people have to work on Sunday.

Saturday, November 20, 2021

The mystery is

the sound of the announcer over at the high school football field wasn't as disturbing for some reason

ALL DAY RUNNING AWAY FROM NOISE

Nice excursions to parks and some downtown places in the day but wanted to have a chill Saurday night.

Now, horrible overly loud party music from home in the neighborhood behind the apartments.

Today, new upstairs neighbors hammering at things but that was in the day.

HOW TO ESCAPE???

I might be on the spectrum. I feel sick.

I have an idea to drive to a canyon and park somewhere, maybe????

Old wives seen

Culture needs to change

"Some days, Vaughn said, he has been joined by dozens of other men like him, men who were abused and taken advantage of by Anderson, men who have come by to stand vigil and demand respect. “Some of them learned about it the first time from me,” he said. “I’ve also heard some heartbreaking stories from them, which tells me the university still hasn’t gotten a handle on sexual assault. I talked to one inspiring young woman who said she worries more about getting raped on campus than she does about picking out a major.”

"The Anderson case echoes the ongoing Dr. Richard Strauss scandal at Michigan’s Big 10 rival Ohio State University, where hundreds of men have accused the university of failing to protect them from a predator doctor."

Benefit some more than others maybe

"It’s not a coincidence that the sexist decisions people defend most often are those that disproportionately benefit men and their personal lives."

“'I think a lot of expat men — especially in China and Southeast Asia — have a pretty messed up view of women,' a male photographer based in southern China saysHe requested anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak with press. 'I think some of them get away with being one way at home, but when they find themselves in these places where sex is so easily available — especially if you’re a white dude and some local women see status in that — some men abuse it.'”

Tale of two strangers

X: "I went into a store today and asked a woman for assistance but she was very distracted and said something to me about her walkie talkie and walked away. Then I saw a young man who probably has your same background and had your first name on his tag. He listened and helped me right away!"

Y: "Well I am glad that someone with my name helped you."

Accountability, People

"BALTIMORE — On the first of two days of public sessions during the U.S. bishops' fall general assembly, a group of sex abuse survivors in a Nov. 16 news conference called on the prelates meeting in Baltimore to focus less on who can take Communion and instead do more to end sex abuse and other abuses by clergy."

"Men Should Stand Up to Rapists, Not Befriend Them"

"Rapists rely on other men to excuse and justify their crimes against women. Other men who'll laugh at their jokes, invite them to parties, play sports with them, introduce them to other women. Men who'll give them jobs, feed them, and help them blame their victims even if it's by indifference."

"In the past three years I've learned that the most powerful tool to combat violence against women could very well be the minds of young men. I've learned that if we don't fill those minds with examples of virtue, empathy, affection, tolerance, trust, kindness, courage, and bravery, then those minds will end up being filled with ignorance, racism, sexism, hate, and anger."

Even though

I can love the idea that therapy or healing techniques or angel intervention could help a person (once I saw a video clip of a guy who described himself as a self-absorbed jerk until he had a near death experience, which changed him because he saw angels) it's curious to know that someone who seemingly was a more consistently nice person when younger could have turned into more of a tempermental sort of person, who, if he feels not in control, can be quite mean at times...

Is that a reaction, is it protecting the real self from a brutal world? If you are sensitive or triggered by that kind of behavior, it hurts on multiple levels to experiece or witness that. Also it could just be a tiresome dynamic and not what you want to deal with. Some of us just don't feel well if we have lots of exposure to that. And sometimes people who dealt with life by being controlling find themselves in different circumstances later on in life.
