Some not quite grown ups

Maybe there were some not quite grown ups who were sort of friendlyish, once. And perhaps, one was a little bit more “grown up” than the other one. He was going through a special and important time. You could call it the I Don’t Have To Ride The School Bus Anymore; Now I’ve Got A Car Rite Of Passage. The other one had guardians who didn’t believe in giving cars to teenagers. Also, she didn’t have a driver’s license. So, she still rode the bus. And, she was a little bit peeved. Here, this person across from her had all this extra freedom, and no time to ride the bus or talk to her anymore.
How come you don’t ever ride the bus? What do you do after school?
None of your business, he said. Naturally, the followers all laughed.
Ha ha ha! Why, almost everything that comes out of that boy’s mouth is witty.
She was like, FINE. I was just wondering, what could possibly be so great, and so much more important than riding the bus, but, nevermind. Who knows, maybe you have some super secret after school job. But obviously, you wouldn’t want to talk about that, so that’s okay, I wouldn’t want to give you away or anything…To cheer herself up, she decides to sing something. An old gum commercial jingle comes back to her…
Skinny Sticklets
Fat with flavor
See how skinny
Taste how fat!
Time to change the subject. Hey, did you go to any of those Multicultural Day events or did you skip school? What were you doing? Oh wait, I forgot, none of my business. Well, there was this fashion show and guess what? Some guy from your country was in it! I think he’s in your grade? He seemed pretty cool. He was tall, and cute, and he acted very nice. Hey, are you friends with him? He was wearing these long flowing white garments; they looked good. How come you don’t wear stuff like that? Maybe you should wear that to school sometime! Why don’t you ever wear something like that? What? Why is the joy not dancing across his face? She’s just trying to give some friendly fashion advice! Oh, well. Nevermind about that, too. Sheesh! What a grouch. Sometimes…
