Ha, stories & crazy southern people ;-)

Can't miss this guy's voice! Comical and spooky at the same time.
Edgar Oliver - Apron Strings of Savannah

Also, a funny little extra was on the radio and is on this website.

"I guess that I'm...you know the product of my childhood...um...which...I guess was...rather...strange..."
(said that around the 2 1/2 or 3 minute mark)

"I...I feel kind of like...um...like I'm a child of the trees...you know..."
(said that around minute 23)

It was preceded by another interesting story called The House That Sherman Didn't Burn.

Vroom

A thought came, rather fast.
What if a Thoreauish one came back and suddenly said (rather affectionately albeit aggressively) to the Emersonish one "I will (VERB) you with my poetry in this lifetime, M.F." And then added "Even if it's BAD poetry. EVEN better!"
And then, in a big stadium, all of a sudden a song, like, say, Precious Things comes on. Part of it chronicles a girl's agony about a crush (quite possibly in high school):
"...holding onto his picture, dressing up everyday..."
Oh the torment, the pain! In the song...
Except...maybe...
Perhaps that part didn't actually happen real life?
Hmmm. Well, maybe not.
However, maybe one could still pretend that it did?
Maybe, in real life, there was a fairy performing that part...

Sweeping

Conflicting feelings about sweeping.
Maybe some men should sweep more.

Information can also be funny

There are times when it occurs to a writer that if life puts certain things in your line of view, and if you don't at least look at them, well, it may be that you are not be quite living up to life's expectations? So. In this case, life said, "there is a distant relative that has a different sort of occupation and you are supposed to at least be aware of this." Also, is said to be published in various places, including in a book called Lost and Found... (which I have not read.) So anyways, I think I will post these because sometimes, it is a little bit hard to resist something that may strike you as being funny....

Dear Mistress: The Strong Submissive Type
Dear Mistress: Domina Anonyma

Only listened to about 40ish seconds of the second one. It was funny. Ergo, I had to stop; there's all this other paper work to attend to and it would be too distracting listen to it and to try to complete it all.
Could be funny? Quite? Maybe?
For now, have to go and attend to the paperwork.

Cats' eyes

Overheard an interesting anecdote recently. Someone said that the military's night vision technology is based on cats. How lucky for the military that cats exist. ~~~~~ Person who uploaded this chose cats eyes for the image: Calexico/Iron & Wine - Dark Eyes

Art life solutions

a) make art
b) feel guilty about everything all the time
c) go for a walk or look at the sky or something
d) regress to a pivotal stage in childhood

Fairytales & such

Hmmm. This is rather interesting. Five hundred new fairytales discovered in Germany. I think I would like to know more about that. One is called The Turnip Princess.
I was also thinking about a funny passage from a book, although it's not about fairy tales, but rather, nursery rhymes...

"'Don't tell me, Ifat, don't,' I begged, until her satisfaction was nearly brimming over. 'What!' she exclaimed cheerfully, ''Put on the pan, says greedy Nan, / Let's sup before we go'? 'She cut off their tails with a carving knife / Did you ever see such a sight in your life'?--Come on, Sara, see what you must see!'...'Don't you think that there are some things you shouldn't tell me?' I asked her once, gloomily...'If you let it fester, that's your fault,' Ifat answered in reproof. 'Tomorrow I'll tell you why Jack Sprat could eat no fat and his wife could eat no lean!' And then, leaving me to contemplate her dreadful promise, she turned round and went to sleep."
(pg. 137, Meatless Days)

And I am reminded that this is funny:
"...twice a day Dadi would leave her room and walk the long length of the corridor to my father's room. There she merely peered round the door, as though to see if he were read. (OOPS! Typo. Meant to say "real.") Each time she peered, my father would interrupt whatever adult thing he might be doing in order to enact a silent paroxysm, an elaborate facial pantomime of revulsion and affront."
(pg 7, Meatless Days)

Some not quite grown ups

Maybe there were some not quite grown ups who were sort of friendlyish, once. And perhaps, one was a little bit more “grown up” than the other one. He was going through a special and important time. You could call it the I Don’t Have To Ride The School Bus Anymore; Now I’ve Got A Car Rite Of Passage. The other one had guardians who didn’t believe in giving cars to teenagers. Also, she didn’t have a driver’s license. So, she still rode the bus. And, she was a little bit peeved. Here, this person across from her had all this extra freedom, and no time to ride the bus or talk to her anymore.
How come you don’t ever ride the bus? What do you do after school?
None of your business, he said. Naturally, the followers all laughed.
Ha ha ha! Why, almost everything that comes out of that boy’s mouth is witty.
She was like, FINE. I was just wondering, what could possibly be so great, and so much more important than riding the bus, but, nevermind. Who knows, maybe you have some super secret after school job. But obviously, you wouldn’t want to talk about that, so that’s okay, I wouldn’t want to give you away or anything…To cheer herself up, she decides to sing something. An old gum commercial jingle comes back to her…
Skinny Sticklets
Fat with flavor
See how skinny
Taste how fat!
Time to change the subject. Hey, did you go to any of those Multicultural Day events or did you skip school? What were you doing? Oh wait, I forgot, none of my business. Well, there was this fashion show and guess what? Some guy from your country was in it! I think he’s in your grade? He seemed pretty cool. He was tall, and cute, and he acted very nice. Hey, are you friends with him? He was wearing these long flowing white garments; they looked good. How come you don’t wear stuff like that? Maybe you should wear that to school sometime! Why don’t you ever wear something like that? What? Why is the joy not dancing across his face? She’s just trying to give some friendly fashion advice! Oh, well. Nevermind about that, too. Sheesh! What a grouch. Sometimes…

Certain hopes and Sunday

On Sunday there is stuff that needs to be done in a place that has bureaucracy and paperwork and not all the training was completed, but people in charge didn't seem to care. Oh, you'll be fine. We'll finish that stuff on Monday. Just ask a supervisor if you have questions. They couldn't be bothered; they had to talk about their vacations or something. Understaffed and busy and not finishing the training before the first day and bureaucracy and paperwork. And naturally it starts first thing in the morning on Daylight Savings Time. It's one of those "out of the frying pan and into the fire," things. And I would like to get through that with as much grace as possible, and wake up in a good mood, and not feel like the ovaries are doing a Mexican hat dance on the body, (as opposed to how it was waking up this morning.) I would like to be unimpeded by pain or physical ailments. I would like to make it through okay, without any major mistakes, even though they couldn't be bothered to complete the training beforehand. Happiness.

PIANO DOG (algo mi hermanita me mando)

Accidental Click

Huh! I can't remember what I was looking for but the accidental click was on Fiona Apple - Criminal. "She went back to mediocrity, where she came from" someone once answered, when I mused aloud, "whatever happened to Fiona Apple?" But I disagree. I don't think she was mediocre. But Oh! Fiona of the past. So skinny. I want to drink the ballerina tea when I watch it. And, if only I could've been a ballerina! Alas, when I was twelve, I found out it was too late. I'd never be able to make a proper turn out. You have to do that before you are twelve. So, maybe I could take a class sometime but I guess I shall have to pursue other things. Perhaps yoga and other types of dancing. WALKS in the WOODS, though, are free and are very very good...

Strict guardian dance

"I went to school and the nuns, they'd do the nun dance on you if you were bad," the strict guardian said. "I'm the evil stepfather. That's my role in life," the strict guardian said. "This house is not a democracy," the guardian said.
2 examples of people who maybe could get the nun dance done on them sometime:
Ludovico Sforza
R.W. Emerson
Perhaps?
Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps...

guess what #2

there was an island, a houseful of teenagers on acid, a backyard bathed in sunlight (beneath overcast skies), a big tree, water droplets on the tree and grasses, and a car with 2 girls and a man with a paper sack full of ripe tomatoes from the farmers market the next morning, and perhaps some music on the radio, like for instance maybe walk on the wild side...

guess what

god likes me
