I think it might be because they're secretly not even half as privileged as they seem.

I sometimes wonder why some Patriarchal people always seem need to hang out with the people who don't care about X types of people, and why some Patriarchal people seem to need to constantly give and also get approval from those uncaring people, in order to make themselves feel better or even make themselves feel "more American."
