Patriarchal people would not be so insensitive towards certain kinds of people if they hadn't been trained to be, and if they hadn't been rewarded for being insensitive. Why would they. The only reason they're doing it is because certain elements in society trained them to act that way, and then rewarded them when they acted that way.
