When boys and girls grow up in Patriarchal households, they learn that they need to appease untrustworthy grown ups who are modeling many kinds of deceptions so that they will be more favored and less penalized by a very imbalanced Patriarchal society. Children grow up and get to live on their own as adults eventually, but sometimes they keep practicing the habits and survival strategies they learned as small children.
