Today's "SO comfortably selfish and uncaring" is tomorrow's "oh no, how could they have gotten help for that sooner"?

What's so comfortable about being a dehumanizing asshole to others just to fit in with some other people's selfish and disrespectful and discriminatory standards of what a "comfortable lifestyle" looks like to a miniscule portion of the population?
