My spiritual friend who is a mom who has one grown son and who lost her daughter as a baby (so sad) is really nice to me, and she never makes me feel bad about the issues I have had. She's just not wired that way. She doesn't seem to want to make herself feel better by putting down or discounting somebody who has had an experience that's different from hers. It's amazing how many people are wired to do that, though. I just don't understand why, sometimes. It seems like it's something they must have learned from a very unspiritual society, that it's a quick way to make themselves feel more special, or something like that. I don't know. It has shocked me on many occasions as I've gotten older, though.
