And weirdly, this video also kind of reminded me about bias in teaching surveys.

When I watched the content creator rant about taking the knee pads off, I remembered taking a sensual dance workshop. I thought it was going to help you feel like you could get more in touch with your body, maybe kind of like a belly dance class, but that was not what it was like.

For a lot of it, we were crawling on our knees, and we also had knee pads on, which was good because one of my knees was not super happy about contact with hard floors. I felt ridiculous during quite a bit of it, and not sensual at all but it also was an interesting experience. It was kind of fun in a way, like you could imagine yourself as a more low-bellied creature crawling on the Earth.

Also, the music didn't really make me feel terribly sensual. It just made me feel kind of ridiculous, and a lot of it was from a male point of view, but different people have different musical tastes.

And then I looked up and I saw how something about the way the fans affected the vents made it look like there were swastikas on the ceiling! And once I saw it, I couldn't stop noticing it for all the rest of the workshop!

But then again the original swastikas used to have a different meaning before the Nazis used them, right? This is such a weird time!

At the end of the class, the instructor seemed a little bit embarrassed. Because she wasn't sure how it would go because it was her first time teaching in a group class setting.

All of the moms, or should I say, people who got made pregnant by men at some point and did not have a miscarriage, and perhaps some of the other kinds of people in female bodies, were telling her how she did a great job and it was wonderful experience. And I thought, I think it was interesting and I feel stressed out, but I would like to take a belly dance class again in the future, though.

What can be done? You want to support the instructor because she's trying a new thing. What if the instructor gave out surveys afterwards? That might elicit some useful information. However, there can also be problems with biases, which is what happens sometimes when people give out those surveys...
