People who lack compassion for what others are experiencing must have gotten some very peculiar messages about who and what is more valuable and why they are entitled to act that way, and in a time of trauma they will shut down and let you know that they will become even more mean if you act like anyone who is not exactly like them matters, and they will blatantly show that you really cannot rely on them for anything.
