Seeing how dreadfully selfish and self-absorbed some people are has been a very painful aspect of being alive at this time.
It's weird that when you point out human suffering and you think somebody else will say, yes, I can see how that's wrong and that shouldn't be happening to those people, instead they get defensive or shut down.
It's almost like they don't want to admit that other people who are different from them are actual human beings and that they should have just a basic level of human compassion for them.
It can be hard to understand why they're acting that way, although I suppose it's out of some desire to protect themselves, but I just don't think it's going to actually protect them to pretend that other human beings are not worth considering.
