She's been "privileged" enough to be rewarded for being small-minded and unkind for an entire lifetime. I can imagine that she may have even been castigated or chastised if she wasn't shallow and awful, sometimes. People who act this way do so because they've been rewarded for it many times in the past. Some people are encouraged to be callous and insensitive more than others.
