I get these songs in my head anyways.

Ace of Base - "Happy Nation (Official Music Video)"

I liked that other song with the Latin in it too that used to come on a lot.

Enigma - "Sadeness - Part i (Official Video)"

That one makes me think of sitting on my father's couch in Monterey, California. Monterey was fun. It had a great library. I loved my library books. Even though I also read books about the Holocaust and they traumatized me. Monterey had beaches. And a Hello Kitty store? Although maybe that was actually in San Jose. It was close to Big Sur. It had rolling hills and Cannery Row and John Steinbeck. The apartment had a swimming pool. TCBY was a big deal. I might have read the book Melusine by Lynne Reid Banks in Monterey. But that was not from a library. I think somebody loaned it to me.

We stayed in Monterey for an extended period when my mother took a lot of business trips. My parents were educated and they didn't seem to feel too poor to raise children. And I know that a lot of ways, I felt very safe.
