That conference was in the Portland area when I was a college student. Several students from our school went down in one car, including a girl whose parents were farmworkers themselves. She might have also done some farmwork actually. Maybe we were in Rebecca's car. And smoke started coming out of the front, so we had to pull over.

And at the end of the conference, some people were saying, isn't it sad how all these students came to this farmworkers conference and acted like they cared, but they're just going to forget about it and go on with their lives after they graduate from college and go out and get jobs and stuff. Oooh, that really got to me for some reason.
The way we got back up to Seattle after the conference was to go back with some people who were driving a van to Evergreen in Olympia.
