Optimistic POV on the "learning experience" type of parent:
Just because so-and-so was a jerk to you or to other people, didn't receive enough (if any) therapy or treatment, & repeated what he didn't unlearn from his elders doesn't mean you have to follow the same abusive behavior patterns. Lots of patterns get broken. Happens all the time!
