It seems like being overly interested in materialistic things and accidentally being better at ignoring inequity goes hand in hand. I'm not talking about having fun on a little shopping spree. I'm talking about a whole lifestyle that's based on materialistic crap being your safest reward. Like a house is what you get for putting up with going along with damaging patterns.
And also, the habit of ignoring a lot of different kinds of human beings because it makes you feel better. It makes you feel more special. It makes you feel like you're able to fit in enough with the Patriarchy to start to enjoy it more. That feels like not the best thing to do right now.
