I think many of the younger ones will be better to the "others" than what got role-modeled for them.

I also think that people are getting more used to finding pleasure in being more curious about people who are different from them, instead of being threatened by such.

And, I also think it's getting harder and harder to ignore that a lot how society functions depends on the labors of the others.

I recently received a message from a person who is affiliated with a political party in a state I used to live in.

It just reminded me that actually, liberal people and conservative people tend to have a lot in common when it comes to their treatment of "others" in society.

Both liberal and conservative people share the tendency of feeling very uncomfortable with  certain "other" kinds of people. And both liberal people and conservative people seem to feel the most comfortable with people who have fit in well with the Patriarchy, based on their genetics and upbringing, and the choices that were available to them. So actually...they have a lot in common, whether they identify as conservative or as liberal people...

People who voted for Trump and people who voted for Biden actually really do have a lot in common!

Did this dad get raised with values?

What were they?

Pardon me, I'm just making a lot of strange faces, and then off to take my capsule of black currant seed oil.

"Robertson went to her doctor, went to different doctors, many times. 'I was always asking for help,' she says. 'I’d say, I want to know why my periods are so bad. I’d want to know what was wrong with me, but I’d just be told: ‘Periods can be like this.’ It made me feel I was wasting their time.' She was about 30 when her best friend told her: 'I’ve found the password! I know how to get proper treatment. Tell your doctor that you’re trying for a baby.'”

So Robertson did. 'The doctor literally said: ‘Lets get to the bottom of this, then,’” says Robertson. 'No one wanted to get to the bottom of why, every month, I was debilitated and in pain. Now that I wanted a baby, I was given an internal scan. I got to see a gynaecologist. All these things finally happened.' As a result, Robertson was diagnosed with adenomyosis – a condition that might affect as many as one in 10 women. (Last year, BBC presenter Naga Munchetty described its devastating impact on her life, saying she’d been 'failed and gaslit' by the NHS.)"

Another interesting detail.

"Macron also bestowed the Legion of Honor on 103-year-old Christian Lamb, the daughter of a Royal Navy admiral who was studying in Normandy in 1939 when her father called her back to London. There, Lamb created detailed maps that guided the crews of landing craft on D-Day.

The French president bent down to Lamb in a wheelchair, pin the medal and kiss her on both cheeks, describing her as one of the 'heroes in the shadows.'”

And in spite of the fact that I met a couple of humanity's brothers when I didn't know they were "who they were," and I discovered I was not comfortable with some things about how they choose to live, even though others go along with it...

To me, it seems like some of you guys really need to remember you should be who you're meant to be and not get knocked off your path by more money or a bigger house or an addiction to adulation or controlling others.

That last one is the worst of all.

I truly believe old ways are dying out because future generations of people are not going to be into going along with a lot of the same old nonsense that wasn't good for them or their forebears, either.

Patriarchy, I think you need to get more advanced and be more willing to heal.

Oh well, your stomachache knows what people were brought up to ignore.

Social changes in other eras

"Medieval states were vulnerable to economic shocks and popular unrest, and though they depended on minority groups such as Jewish people for financial expertise and as a source of revenue, they were willing to sacrifice the rights of those very same minority groups in order to sate popular anger. The states that emerged after 1600, in contrast, succeeded in building fiscal and legal capacity; they enjoyed greater political stability and ceased to be responsive to popular unrest and antisemitism. This argument is consistent with the large literature that identifies an improvement in economic and political institutions in Europe from the seventeenth century onwards (e.g. Acemoglu, Johnson and Robinson 2005). Finally, the rise of markets and changing attitudes towards commerce and particularly moneylending and banking may have played a role in reducing the likelihood that popular unrest would lead to the scapegoating of Jewish minorities."

When they were younger...

Lots of people were more curious about different things.

They are just being like that out of fear.

People can be very cold to the "different" ones who have "different" backgrounds and had "different" experiences when it suits them, and when that's what they got rewarded for doing in the past.

The dream was about what some people still normalize

The coldness and indifference to others, grafted onto a more comfortable way of life in modern day America.

It really has depressed me that the Patriarchy has trained whole generations to be insensitive assholes and conveniently look away just to protect themselves and celebrate a supposedly superior way of life and use a toxic form of "positivity" as a way to shut out others.

Insensitivity and self-absorption is not a superior way of life.

Saying it's worse somewhere else in the world is also not an excuse.

Look at the people who pick your food in this country, too.

Look at what's happening to girls and women in this country, too.

The dream was just about being expected to move in somewhere others had been forced out and not being able to do it and crying.

It's felt that way at times.

Sometimes I feel like, when people seem like they don't care about human rights for a wider variety of girls and women, it's just, like, this temporary backpack they've put on to give themselves some feelings of self sufficiency, or it's their armor or something they chose to rely on as some way to survive the patriarchy, and it feelz like it's not really them, and maybe they're just in a phase....

Dear Beautiful Girl, I mean, Important Institution of Growth & Learning

What if people started treating you like they treat certain kinds of women's bodies?

And more specifically the "unimportant, genetically inferior" kinds of bodies?

What if, suddenly, you had the status of an unimportant, genetically inferior woman, who apparently nobody is very interested in protecting or even giving adequate medical care to?

That would almost be like the perverse inverse of a patriarchal society.

It might be nicer for you, too!

What if you got out of that bubble of narcissistic privilege and quit being needlessly cruel to others?

Oops, the genetics didn't perfectly align!

They could expand themselves and their privileges and look less shallow and bigoted to their future "different" descendants, too

I think it would be very nice if the privileged people who were favored the most by Society's Patriarchal Norms got a lot more articulate about why they felt so entitled to treat the underprivileged ones with such disdain.

Thank goodness you've got values.

How do you intend to be less dehumanizing and insensitive to "those certain kinds of different girls and women" in the near future? Maybe even today?

I wonder why?

I know some guys aren't very happy with the "feminist" types right now, and it's probably because even though Society tells them they've been given all the advantages of being a privileged white male from the patriarchal society they were born into, they still don't feel that lucky.

Their feelings could be valid.

Maybe they're really not that lucky.

Getting a bunch of materialistic advantages at the cost of something much better, something that is truly more fulfilling than what they were brought up to expect to deserve...it seems to be a painful way to experience reality.

Well that's a feeling that needs to be contended with.

What options are there?

How many of these guys have tried therapy?

I mean, if you try therapy just once and it doesn't work, that doesn't mean you give up on therapy. It means you find the therapy that works for you. What would you happen to you if you gave up on something else, like feeding yourself? Oh, this meal didn't work, so I just give up on feeding myself for the rest of my life.

That's why I don't listen to people like you when I don't want to hear what you're talking about, obviously.

"All of my genetically superior grandchildren will definitely support my sensible and 100% justifiable coping mechanisms."

Now worship my superior home-owning situation, genetics, and social media skills.

"I only act like I don't give a s*** about people like you because that's what the paid charity wanted me to do in order to fit in better with The Great Patriarchal Values we were raised and indoctrinated to uphold from the time we were very small."

Being more feminist than some of the grandmas and grandpas is so easy, honestly.

But I understand that you can't afford it, so I hope you find something that works out better for you.

My therapy is soaking in the cozy bath of pampering that the Patriarchy has provided for me my entire lifetime!

Ah, so they cared more about women and girls than the sons of so-and-so and his wife?

Civilization, you know.

I sat next to Elon Musk, dad extraordinare, on a plane, and then another plane, and he acted like a lot of you all act.

Doulas of disenfranchised grief didn't invent these self-absorbed coping mechanisms, did they?

It's the Lord's Day and I hear that certain Dads who don't let themselves care about anything too healthcare-related that might trigger their inner wounded feminine sides still seek solace with the Moms who totally do that all the time, too.

Oh, so that must be why those dads and moms have been giving those guys all the best toys, like the Big Babies O' Patriarchal Privilege they were raised to be, and...

Why they're clearly so comfortable with letting the little ones who harvested their tasty organic food banquets  go without!

Well, I bet those guys can't even go to their Narcissistic-y Patriarchal Parenting Meetups.  Because they probably care about Others too much.

😮

Oh pipe down, ornery ancestral ghost.

😡

Well, don't just laugh about it like such a narcissistic ninny!

The great grandchildren are going to be so shocked at the insensitivity of them!

Have some respect for once!

The systemic oppression is SO cringe!

Lands really were stolen!

For goodness sakes, get thee to rehab, ye olde excessively jolly addicts of self-indulgent Patriarchal Programming.

Alright grouchy, settle down.

Why don't you do some hip opening stretches?

You seem tense.

O Unhappy Patriarchal People!

It's gotta be more than just dumb luck.

How did I get so fortunate as to be surrounded by people who think I deserve better healthcare than my ghost daughter deserves?

Honestly, with the way things are going...

Caring about girls and women's healthcare is going to be so much more popular with the younger people than it was for you and your friends. Because otherwise...

Dear pleasure-loving people who have ever experienced even a wee bit o' insomnia

Does it bother you because it hurts to know that it oppresses people and creates more rampant, unsustainable, systemic inequity?

Or does it bother you because it's a threat to your ego?

Denimized but Feminized.

I'm so glad the grandma on that side of the family wasn't mean to those certain categories of women and girls just because a bunch of insecure rich white guys thought her jeans were superior to the other women's and girls' jeans.

Look ahead.

Meet the grandparents and future grandparents who act like they know they're not entitled to make life worse for the girls and women that the patriarchy deemed not as valuable to it's small-minded, unhealthy, prejudiced, misogynistic structure.

Because that would be SO tacky.

I, for one, am grateful that the conservative grandmas aren't huddling together with a copy of Shirley Jackson's "The Lottery" and deciding which granddaughters deserve to be killed off first.

Look what she's not doing!

Ha ha! Right? Oh come on.

I cannot BELIEVE this! Well, I CAN, but...it's HARD to believe, isn't it?

"And the truth is misogyny isn’t a Republican problem; it’s a cultural problem that is indeed shared by Democratic men. It’s extremely difficult to write about; as young girls we’re taught to manage the emotions of others and to dutifully and uncomplainingly manage multiple tasks, then we grow up into women who are constantly told not to be 'dramatic' regardless of how severe the behavior of men. But I’m not going anywhere, and this isn’t the kind of culture I want for my goddaughters."

Someone had to ask.

"What's that racket?"

https://www.npr.org/2024/05/31/g-s1-1606/woodpeckers-bang-metal-homes-loud-urban-noise-mating

"But when they bash away at metal, 'what the birds are trying to do is make as big a noise as possible," he said, "and a number of these guys have found that — you know what? If you hammer on metal, it's really loud!'

Woodpeckers primarily do this during the springtime breeding season, and their metallic racket has two purposes, 'basically summarized as: All other guys stay away, all the girls come to me,' McGowan said. 'And the bigger the noise, the better.'"

Thank GOODNESS.

At least so-and-so will get LOTS of supportive messages from HIS society about how it's actually a really GOOD thing to care about human rights for LOTS of different types of people, eh?

They'll be able to properly honor all their amazingly different descendants soon.

Humans generally enjoy embracing change, growth, and variety!

Oh stop, it's just basic human rights getting trampled on for no good reason.

"Our joke is about how Grandma was from that generation where discriminating against anyone who was different from her just felt incredibly comforting and satisfying, so what could Grandpa do about it, or about anything at all?"

Well! What's to be done about virulent misogyny today?

“I am outraged on behalf of my fellow plaintiffs who the Court deemed not sick enough,” said lead plaintiff Amanda Zurawski, who suffered from PPROM during her pregnancy and not only lost her daughter but almost died after developing sepsis. 'Our Courts should acknowledge all of our suffering and vindicate our fundamental rights to reproductive autonomy. We should not need to beg elected officials for our right to control our own bodies,' Zurawski continued."
