Here's the dark side:
Contributing to a woman being in a time of need, and then abandoning a woman in a time of need, is a very, very, very lousy way for a man to act, no matter what hardships he experienced in his own life. And apparently, it kind of feels like the universe is saying that wasn't adequately addressed or made up for her enough!
