Sundown. Here comes the evening.

These are not the best of times.

Was just reading about other times when certain people were targeted and taken away from their communities

Sadly, understanding just a little bit more about what it was like, I have realized that eight decades was not so very long ago.

It's fun to hear English in other accents!

Important parents from well-off social circles ponder

How can someone discern if some sentient human beings in the future will be less immature, materialistic, racist, sexist, self-absorbed, etcetera, compared to what certain people in previous generations got the most socially and monetarily rewarded for?

Very possible.

Maybe some people are going to have really different values in the future, compared to what was considered "the norm" or status quo for them or for their elders in the past.

What is this about? Cruelty?

"Yamamoto and De Leon’s husband, who was waiting in another room, were particularly taken aback that Hermelinda, 14, also was detained. Yamamoto was with the mom and daughter when agents asked the teen to empty her pockets. She pulled out her phone and a lip gloss.

“That moment was horrible,” Yamamoto said. “Her eyes got big, like, ‘Am I being detained right now?’ I’m glad they didn’t cuff them.”

In past experience, Yamamoto said, youths typically were allowed to stay with the other parent. De Leon’s husband, Abel, had arrived in the U.S. two years prior to his wife and daughter, fleeing gangs, and has had an active asylum application pending for more than a decade in a backlogged court system. The couple’s 10-year-old son, born in the U.S., remains with dad in their South Omaha home.

De Leon’s family received word a few days later that mother and daughter were together in a family ICE facility in Texas. Yamamoto said the mom likely has no chance to stay in the U.S., though Hermelinda appears eligible for an asylum interview."

https://nebraskaexaminer.com/2025/06/29/immigration-enforcement-hit-home-for-trump-supporter-worried-about-little-buddy-ice-detained/

What's the opposite of willfully ignorant?

"Longtime Omaha immigration attorney Rachel Yamamoto said she has noticed a pivot by federal officials to go after 'easy pickings, low-hanging fruit,' apparently to meet the reported quotas of up to 3,000 arrests daily demanded by the Trump administration.

She pointed out her own clients: a mother-daughter duo detained June 4 at an appointment that in years past was a routine 'check in.'

Maria De Leon of Huehuetenango, Guatemala, had entered the U.S. in 2014, with 3-year-old daughter Hermelinda in tow. She was released at the border to await a 'credible fear' interview with federal officials that came six years later.

Her plea to stay was denied, and she was under an Order of Supervision to check in annually with immigration officials, Yamamoto said. Federal officials did not violate any rules in detaining De Leon, the attorney noted, as the food plant worker had an outstanding order of removal. But she called it 'a drastic change from usual procedures.'

'She’s been on this order of supervision since 2014,' Yamamoto said of De Leon. 'Everything was fine every year, until now. She’s never been arrested. She’s had a work permit. Her husband is working legally.'"

Naive? Maybe.

"Randall says he is fuming over tactics he said turned out not to be what he voted for last November.

He expected 'God-fearing' workers to be last in line. For the Plattsmouth-area resident who considers himself an independent swing voter, a different reality has 'hit home' and shifted his mindset on federal immigration enforcement.

'Call me naive, but my clear understanding was we were going to go after the bad actors, not hardworking immigrants,' said Randall."

"You need to be more positive."

"Okay how about this! 'What a time to realize that when others were trying to feel better by being bullying, controlling, self-absorbed and insensitive, and you had a feeling that it really wasn't the best way to follow, there was something correct about that.'"

Take better care of yourself, too.

Your low self-esteem and prejudice and lack of compassion for others is not a good excuse for the unnecessary insensitivity or the unreasonable amount of oppressively abusive things that are happening.

Oh my gosh, maybe there's much better alternatives than that though!

"Let's be stubborn and cruel and make people feel too afraid to go to parks and churches!"

Why are some people so attached to stuff that is very harmful? Like addicted, almost.

Maybe the greed and self-absorption is worthy of criticism because it's actually very hurtful and dangerous to people's well-being, and for all ages, from children to elders, and because human beings deserve much, much better.

Notice any patterns?

" I left it all behind. In Israel, I soon found a job and met Ora, my future wife. Well, she and I were Jewish and lived in Tel Aviv-- where we still live today and which had become a haven for many Jews. However, I had not moved to Israel because it was a Jewish State; I was looking for a place to live and work-- somewhere to be creative. That was possible for me there. Together, Ora and I soon had fantastic ideas. Our big break came in 1979 when we developed a board game called Wie is het? in Dutch. The toy manufacturer Milton Bradley was as enthusiastic as we were and produced the game in Great Britain under the name Guess Who? It met with amazing success, was launched in the United States in 1982, and has since been sold in almost every country around the world."

A Tale of Two Fifteen-Year-Old Girls in the 1940s

"As conditions in Anne's camp section were a lot worse than Hanneli's, she promised to bring Anne food and clothes. The next evening, Hanneli threw a parcel over the barbed wire. What the contents of the parcel were is not entirely clear because Hanneli's statements about it varied. In 1957, for example, she said the parcel consisted of a jumper in which a tin of sardines was wrapped, a few lumps of sugar and some pieces of rusk. In a 2009 interview, she recalled a sock or a glove, some dried plums and Swedish knäckebröd. But whatever was in this parcel, Anne never got it:

'And then I hear Anne crying and screaming and angry. What happened? No, I couldn't see her, and that barbed wire was high and the night was dark and I had to throw at what I hear. But there were hundreds of other hungry women there, and another woman had picked up that package, run away, and didn't give her anything. Well, I had to calm her down first and I promised: 'We'll do it again.´'

Eventually, Hanneli managed to put together a new parcel and this time it did reach Anne. The content of this second parcel is also unclear. In most interviews, Hanneli does not comment on this. In an interview from 1957, Hanneli described it as a pair of stockings and some food. In another interview from the same year, she is slightly more detailed:

'I collected a second pitiful parcel for Anne. A woman mourning her daughter’s death contributed a torn sweater and pair of cotton stockings in addition to the pieces of sugar and stale crackers other people gave me.'"

"Torosian can be heard pleading with them to administer medical aid. He can also be heard asking whether they know about the situation in Iran and why Christian Iranians fear returning to their native country.

According to Torosian, the woman and her husband are members of his church and entered the United States last year under CBP One, the mobile app the Biden administration launched to streamline the asylum-seeking process. President Donald Trump ended the program shortly after he returned to office.

The woman was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, where ICE agents were met by immigrant advocates and detention protesters. Torosian said that he was not allowed into her hospital room and that immigration officials gruffly brushed away a nurse who tried to intercede on his behalf.

UCLA Health said in a statement that it treated a patient under federal custody and later released the person."

'I was seeing a woman on the ground and masked people who wouldn’t show their warrants,' he said. 'I was just shocked. Am I in Iran or am I in L.A.?'

Still soccer field

I like a quiet park, but to be this deserted on a Saturday in a densely populated area in the midst of ideal weather feels weird to me.

 Where are the people?

Hello! This is summertime. I can imagine a football game over there.

I guess we have the place to ourselves.

Empty Playground! Empty Picnic Tables! On a Saturday!

Why so empty? Did ICE stop by?

How timeless some things seem to be these days...

I also went to a park today, and I was invited to join a kind of singing Bible study, but I was on the phone. So I did not join the group of 8 or 10. It seemed to be mostly or entirely made up of younger people.

But that whole scene of being in a park and a group of people are in the corner singing with some guitars, leaning on some kind of spiritual practice...that could be from decades ago.

What's happening now will someday be what happened decades ago.

Past example of a pocket of goodness?

"On the day of the Dutch publication of the book, which also happened to be De Jong’s 85th birthday, they appeared on a TV chatshow. The discussion centered on two Armenian children who were due to be deported back 'home' in two days, despite having spent their whole lives with Dutch foster parents and speaking only Dutch. 'It was really shocking that the government was saying: ‘We are going to send these children back,' says Van Es. The following day a decision was made to allow the children to stay. 'I had at least the right to speak,' she says, modestly denying Van Es’s reports that people on Twitter were saying DeJong had done more than those in parliament to help. The book sold out in the Netherlands the next day."

I'm having the strangest experience reading this book.

I will read and register some of it and then not absorb some other information, so I have to keep going back and rereading. Very specific incidents do not register; I have apparently read certain pages, but I just did not take in the information on them the first time around.

And for some reason, this just keeps happening over and over and over again.

"The Cut Out Girl..."

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/36978239-the-cut-out-girl

Most recently, I went backwards after I read page 122, where it gave the date that the girl's parents were arrested. I went back to find out if they were arrested before or after the mother's birthday because she wrote a birthday letter to her mother.

When I went back, I found an incident in which she told a friend that she was in hiding and the friend told her mother and then the mother told the foster mother and then she got punished and sent to bed without dinner, and I didn't even remember that at all, even though I must have read it. I still remembered what happened in the next section, when the police came to the foster parents' house.

I guess the cat is being affected now too.

The cat doesn't get to see lizards on her "Cat Alone app" because the lizards require ads, which turn into tiktoks about some bad things that are happening. And then the tiktoks just keep going and going and the ad never ends.

The other day I got almost everything but a smoothie to ease my suffering.

Maybe these people could do some really deep work to address their suffering.

"Conan buys a Hailey Bieber smoothie"

https://www.instagram.com/reel/DLVSuXtpsvz/?igsh=MTc4MmM1YmI2Ng==

The other day, I got a turmeric shot, a mini detox juice, and a mini parfait, and my partner got a bowl. So basically, almost everything except a regular smoothie was ordered. I think it all cost about the same as whatever that more expensive smoothie they're talking about must have cost. Because the turmeric shot was free because I got a deal through the app.

I ordered some stuff that I thought would be soft after I had a dental filling. I was upset because my dental filling hurt. I had all this numbness and still experienced icky awful pain. So I wanted a treat and I was feeling self-absorbed about my pain.

So I had my mini detox juice and my mini parfait and my nice fresh turmeric shot for the pain or inflammation.

Then a girl came inside and asked us for help jumping her car and we had a hybrid and it was a whole weird thing where we weren't sure how to do it because that had never happened to us before and we didn't have jumper cables and I was looking at the car manual and in the meantime two young kids came by and they helped with pushing the car because they wanted to because they felt good about helping somebody. And then they asked if we could help by giving some air to one of the bike tires but we didn't have the right stuff and so then they took off. And in the meantime the young adult guys at the pizza place next door had a regular (not hybrid) car and they were able to jump the girl's car and then she came over and said thank you for your help, sorry for interrupting and we said oh that's okay and she said she would be okay now and she doesn't live very far away and we were like oh good.

Sorry to hear that some people are afraid to go to church on Sundays now.

Feelings...nothing more than feelings!

Tomorrow, we'll talk about what else you should be like and how you should act so that certain people will think you're a lot more special, just like they were taught in their schools and churches and perhaps even a little bit at home. Yes, perhaps even there too!

Very special. Very important. Very blessed!

I'm quite happy that there are feminist men and women making videos.

Because then, you know. It could someday be normal! Even some women who were raised to act and think otherwise might start to behave as though caring about the well-being of girls and women is normal, someday!

Maybe I can also learn how to breathe better!

I wish I would not get so many distressing physical ailments. I wish I would get better at moving forward. And these things are possible, aren't they? I could get better at a lot of things.

My body needs me to help me heal it, so I will do so.

I am going to learn how to heal from stuff that has been not great for my health, because waiting for other people to get better at being less prejudiced or less sexist or more compassionate when they don't want to think about that sort of thing is not going to be a very healing experience.

I'm glad I got to eat some berries today! Thank you, berry pickers.

It's not fair that some people have to go through hell just to survive, but I guess it's part of the human experience sometimes.

Nope. You are never going to be able to be like they are.

If you're a sensitive person and you feel feelings and other people can shut down to things more easily that you can't shut down to quite so easily, you're obviously going to have to learn how to deal with that, but you're never going to be able to be like they are.

So don't bother trying.

There's almost no words!

Dealing with multiple physical elements, but fortunate to feel a bit better now!

I feel like I went through so much stuff in this lifetime. Physically and emotionally and everything.

Got to keep on moving on!

Next lifetime?

So when do we get to talk to your dad about that one time?

That one time when I found out that some people I knew who happened to be women...

Who happened to be women who were married to white men and changed their last names, as one does...

Who happen to be women who were married to white men who grew up in sexist households who also were taught that making excuses for lots of abusive behavior in order to fit in and benefit more financially was supposed to be what was considered "normal..."

Oh my God!!!!

Do those Patriarchal Women love people like your dad better than they most love girls and women for any specific reasons in particular!?

Saturday, June 21, 2025

I ask for really truly beneficial healing. Please and thank you.

Please help me to forgive myself and to forgive others when we don't know how to take care of ourselves and we end up suffering. We deserve help and compassion and forgiveness.

To help myself and my body heal. Please help me welcome the most healing path I can find.

I'm asking higher wisdom, God, higher power to help me step into a new way of being because I've had some health issues again and so far both the tests that I had a several years ago and the tests that I had within the last month or so did not bring much of a resolution so I need the higher power of God to help me know what I should do now and walk on the right path.

Happy Caturday! 😻

Well, unfortunately I wasn't able to sleep but maybe it will come soon.

As I have known before, people have needs and people deserve good things.

I'm going to start praying more again because we have a lot of stuff going on and the truth is, is you don't know where other people are at and why and what they're dealing with, and people need to take care of their health.

Sentience speaks.

"Oh well, maybe you're just feeling as a human being should be feeling, instead of numbing it out for selfish reasons!!!!"

The truth about bad times filled with discrimination and kidnappings...

Sometimes, some people really do show you a lot about how you don't want to ever be.

Disappointment! Hurt! Disgust! Disbelief

I don't even know how so many ICE kidnappings could even happen if there wasn't this whole: "It has been a childish yet culturally accepted practice to discriminate against others as a survival strategy for quite some time now" nonsense.

Anyways, I have some abilities and some wits about me.

I have to go find the literature. That is like my therapy. Or, a part of it. Definitely just a part of the healing, not the whole thing that it needs to be.

?????

How to heal from experiencing people being not at their best? Like to the point where it feels like horrible things can happen? Because horrible things already have happened?

(In this lifetime.)

Took a little detour.

Purchased some German food. I got a little lunch to take with me and as I sat there and waited I tried to feel positive. It was a whole thing. I stared at these pictures of idyllic Bavarian style lodges and thought about how weird that that stuff always mixed up in my head with the horrors of, I don't know, perhaps another lifetime or something.

I added extra vinegar at home to the German potato salad because it's not as sour as what I remember tasting growing up, and it's funny how there's stuff you can eat as a kid and you're like well. I don't really care if I never eat this again in my life. And then for some reason when you get older it's like there's this whole nostalgia associated with tasting it.

Human beings, including little kids, deserve so much better!

They definitely deserve better than the greedy callousness of certain sexist, racist, selfish adults who never grew up or into their real potential.

Why should the selfish people care about people getting access to schooling???

"ICE raid against California farmworkers found to reduce school attendance"

https://www.sfchronicle.com/california/article/ice-raid-against-farmworkers-reduced-school-days-20383836.php

What if they just don't want to be better to others?

Like little kids in adult bodies. They just don't wanna care. Isn't the selfishness something that some people learn how to grow out of when they grow up?

Does this mean that they're a victim of their own upbringing?

Do you know people who you think might be a lot better to others if they had been raised differently?

Their paths crossed from time to time, which invariably resulted in a fight. The warehouse cat was always the aggressor, while the attic cat was ultimately the victor, just as in politics. "Did I make a mistake?"

"The cliche of the blonde, sadistic woman in an SS uniform later became a sexualised cult figure in films and comics.

But out of thousands of women who worked as SS guards, only 77 were brought to trial. And very few were actually convicted.

They portrayed themselves as ignorant helpers - easily done in patriarchal post-war West Germany. Most never talked about the past. They got married, changed their names and faded into society.

One woman, Herta Bothe, who was jailed for horrendous acts of violence, did later speak publicly. She was pardoned by the British, after just a few years in prison. In a rare interview, recorded in 1999 just before she died, she remained unrepentant.

'Did I make a mistake? No. The mistake was that it was a concentration camp, but I had to go to it, otherwise I would have been put into it myself. That was my mistake.'

That was an excuse former guards often gave. But it was not true. Records show that some new recruits did leave Ravensbrück as soon as they realised what the job involved. They were allowed to go and did not suffer negative consequences.

I ask Selma if she thinks the guards were diabolical monsters. 'I think they were ordinary women doing diabolical things. I think it's possible with loads of people, even in England. I think that can happen anywhere. It can happen here if it's allowed.'"

It's a chilling lesson for today, she believes."

Many of the young women came from poorer families, left school early and had few career opportunities.

A job at a concentration camp meant higher wages, comfortable accommodation and financial independence. 'It was more attractive than working in a factory,' says Dr Genest.

Many had been indoctrinated early in Nazi youth groups and believed in Hitler's ideology. 'They felt they were supporting society by doing something against its enemies,' she said.

It's sad that some women and men would find it so much easier to "respect" certain other kinds of people more if only they were more "like them." If only they were more chauvinistic and materialistic and Patriarchal, like they are. If only they had the same "values."

"Why do you not know how to act that way so you can get rewarded more, too?"

If the Patriarchal People are so great, why are some moms being torn away from their children by them right now?

This sometimes involves money, houses, clothing and vacations, though.

Not to mention health insurance and college tuition!

"She laughs at his misogynistic jokes.

She roasts other women because she knows, deep down, that patriarchy rewards betrayal more than sisterhood."

I never watched it before because it would be better to see it after I had to read this!

Girl! Beetle! Angel!

"'Yeah, crazy! Strange! Ridiculous!' Dot nodded again. 'Someone with a mouth like mine can go hide themselves. Oh, look at that cute beetle.'

Lenie pulled her legs up. 'Where?' She looked a little scared.

"Under your chair," Dot chuckled. "He's crawling up one leg now. I think he wants to build a nest on your knees."

Lenie had already jumped up.

'I think beetles are such scary creatures,' she complained. Her short, blond, very straight hair fell past her ears. 'Where then, Dot?'

'Sweet, sweet. Look, there's the angel scurrying around. What a cute, shiny little body. You can see yourself reflected in it.' She slid forward on her elbows into the path of the beetle. Mia shook her head a little... 'As unpresentable as Dot always looked...' Lenie sat down again with a light sigh. Dot was restless, and never tired at all. Now she rolled over and over like a naughty boy, then jumped up quickly and nimbly and came dancing closer on her toes."

Like a bird?

Because of trying to read two books by Cissy van Marxveldt, I want to know what is the meaning of the early 20th century Dutch slang about a girl being "a crane."

From Chapter 2 of "The H.B.S. time of Joop ter Heul:"

[p. 25]

"'Wow, that's quite nice. And now you're probably doing some shopping?'

“Yes, sir,” said the two Lies.

'I never see you at Pop's anymore, how come Lies?' And Mr. Helmer looked at me.

"I'm studying really hard. Under Dad's care."

'Well, well. Then you'll become a crane. Bye Lies.' Papa Helmer lifted his hat. 'Lies,' he said again."

https://www.dbnl.org/tekst/marx002hbst01_01/marx002hbst01_01_0002.php

And in the first chapter of "A Summer Folly:"

"'Well, that's definitely abnormal,' Dot observed, plopping down on the grass again. 'What true HBS student likes school! - No, I ask you...' She half closed her eyes. Then she said apologetically: 'Oh, maybe if I were a crane like you Mia...' Dot didn't finish her sentence, squinted at the sun, which stood fiery and radiant in the sky."

Cruelty and discrimination is not the answer.

There's people who feel they've been neglected and cheated, for a whole variety of reasons, and they're using that anger to make excuses for a lot of cruelty and discrimination, which is not the best solution, either for themselves or for others, and will not be admired.

Family values? Separating parents from children?

"The morning that ICE took Shirly Guardado into custody had started like any other. She and Correa had woken early to prepare their 10-month-old son for the day and then taken him to Guardado’s mother to watch him while they worked — Correa as a logistics specialist, handling the training for part-time Army reservists at his unit, and Guardado as a secretary at an air conditioning manufacturing company.

Guardado had gotten a work permit and an order of supervision from ICE, meaning she needed to check in regularly with immigration officials, after she was apprehended crossing the border about 10 years earlier, her lawyer, Martin Reza, told The War Horse. Her last check-in had been in February, just a month before."

Maybe I should do something fun and creative in the kitchen.

How to deal with those "I'm so disappointed by the 'segregated swimming pools are really great for my people' vibes being given off by some acquaintances who probably would have been defensive about joining the Nazi party in another era" thoughts?

Who even benefits from this kind of discrimination in the 21st century?

"Despite a pending green-card application, a lawful marriage to a U.S. citizen, and a spotless compliance record for the past 15 years, ICE has notified Sakeik's legal counsel that Sakeik could be removed as early as tonight—but will not disclose the destination country. Sakeik's husband fears she could be sent to a country that she has no birth or national ties to, after being given a life to live here for 15 years."

Get better! Do it for yourselves!

I don't trust some people's parents at all. I don't trust people who put others on a pedestal and put down their own children to do it. Especially people who are kowtowing to patriarchal culture. You guys are not okay.

It's true.

I don't need to be entertained that badly. I really, really, really don't need to be entertained that badly. Sometimes I wonder if the only reason he's in charge is because a lot of people need some really sick form of entertainment to distract themselves from their problems.

Other people might need it, or think that they need it. And I know that sometimes I actually love being entertained. So in that way, I'm just like a lot of other human beings.

But I'm wired in a certain way, and I know that if I do need to be entertained, for it to feel good, it needs to be something that's a part of the healing process, of getting to live on a much better planet where more people are treated in ways that they truly deserve, and where more people are treated in ways that respect their humanity, too.

Those are real things that are actually happening.

I also saw videos of people getting snatched off the street by the "bounty hunters," you know, the people with masks and no identification. It looks like a kidnapping, and it looks really bad. If you have any ounce of sensitivity. Of course, I could understand why somebody might have to numb themselves when  watching that because it's very painful to even halfway process it. I would rather be a little bit traumatized and turn it off because it's too painful, but no, I didn't numb myself to it.

Hopefully the healing will come sooner rather than later.

I'm glad I'm not addicted to getting a lot of attention from people because it really seems like when you have that kind of addiction, it just warps your personality. And maybe that is why the entertainment industry is so uncaring to so many people. Addicts don't care about other people when they are pursuing what they're addicted to.

It's very sad, but it's just too difficult to go along with them right now.

Trump seems like he's a extension of an entertainment industry that has been molded in such a way that makes it seem really uncaring to a lot of people, and I just don't want to be a part of giving anything to that kind of uncaringness. I'm aware that a lot of people didn't necessarily vote for him, but they also don't seem to care that much about the people who suffer the most from his decisions, and this is too much for me to be able to go along with it. I just cannot do it.

At the very least, he's doing a lot of things that are really not good for the people.

How painful!

They were human cargo on the railway cattle wagon transporting their parents and a hundred other people, all Jews and Gypsies, to Auschwitz-Birkenau in May 1944.
