Mood is slacky
I haven't done work I should have done. I went to the fair and felt like getting fried food, but the universe kept making it difficult, so I ended up in a very empty coffee house eating a veggie sandwich and listening to a guy play guitar and sing painfully idealistic songs, which I mostly don't remember except for Blackbird, and it made me think I should be less cynical (but it's hard). I'm not completely freaking out about just discovering I've lost a checkbook to an account I'm about to close, even though I'm sort of freaking out (please let no one find it and write checks tonight) and wouldn't it be great if I found it anyway, just for some peace of mind? I suppose I should go do the work I wasn't doing... ("You still have lots of things to pack up," the roommate commented helpfully)

So, I got up and kicked the cat out (sorry! look, I'm outside too! I told her) and went for a walk and remembered that Michael from here and Maryland told me to look up a Maryland band....I went to search for their most popular song. I just listened for a few seconds. Blah blah blah, yeah yeah yeah...I was a bit bored by it but all these people were commenting on how hilarious the song is. So then I looked up the lyrics. We also talked about marathons (not for me, nor her, but she lives with someone who gets medals) and she told me about something called The Color Run. Getting better at some of this stuff...

Michael in a wheelchair who is from here and Maryland stopped me and told me I am really cute, I am 20-22 (he reiterated this when I tried to correct him), I am going to have babies (are you psychic? I asked), and I should stick with what I'm studying because there is a drought and what am I gonna tell my babies, that I did nothing'? No, I'm not going to tell them that. He used to hit on a lot of girls when he was young, used to skip school and go to DC. One time he had to pee and pulled over into an alley and there was a box of steaming donuts. He took it to the homeless guys and then brought some home. His mother asked if he went to school, and he said, mom, you will love these donuts. He pulled out a chocolate eclair. And did she eat it? She loves me, he said. He's going to look up Mary Prankster (and it's rebellious music, right? he asked) I am going to look up Kix. They played in a place in DC called The Bayou. He and his mother had to leave his dad, though. "One of those," he said. "It happens." That's how they ended up in Maryland. He said, "I'll remember you. If you see me, stop me, okay?" THE HEAT TODAY!
There are many things that are forcing me to realize that I really need to get very balanced in my life. I've seen a certain "military guy" approach to life (gorging on both food and fitness) and even though it's rather amusing and familiar to me, and it might work for some people, I can tell it is not going to work for me at all in this body. I guess I need to seek out boring, unpopular, ignorable balance. *But what if saying it like that is also not balanced? Sigh. "Peaceful, tranquil, energizing balance" would be a better way of putting it!*
Pushed myself on an uphill walk (should have gone earlier in the a.m.) in the heat today...felt very wiped out and had a killer headache...the electrolyte water helped...also dropped off a cashier check...mostly very freaked out about moving to a smaller space...it's completely doable and yet it's much smaller...in a way I hope that it will make the living area neater and more streamlined but I'll have to see if my cohorts support me in that...the manager mentioned that if I were already living there I could have swum in a pool today (good point!)...also it is within walking distance of a "natural healing" type clinic I have been curious about (which is also expensive and does not take insurance, but interesting to note anyway)...lastly, I was told that several stray cats roam around the place...I saw one today and it was rather friendly, from a distance...it seemed to be curious about people.

O Mysterious Stranger!
Yesterday at a coffee shop I saw a woman who looks like a distant relative I've never met (but wish to someday) and I could not quite convince myself of one thing or another, but I knew she reminded me of her. We both were wearing gray pullovers and being studious. I don't go to that place very often. I also saw someone else there that I only see for the occasional key exchange for pet sitting. I had a feeling I wanted to go to that coffee shop. I think that in a way, I really wanted that woman to be her...

Today some neighbors gossiped with me about the cat and I gave her food in clear view of everyone.

And then what happened
Still haven't moved yet.
The hard drive is making angry dying sounds.
The cat is in here because the upstairs neighbors are being negligent again.
The old boys network is killing off feminine creativity with it's own self-absorbed excesses.
Women who are mothers could give a rat's ass about their fertility-challenged sisters and daughters.
Despair.
