They made me want to take a little journey somewhere.
I often traveled in the summer when I was younger. So I journeyed to a diner and ordered something I would have ordered as an older kid who got to choose from the adult menu. A hot roast beef sandwich with mashed potatoes and gravy. It was a bit indulgent. But I ate half at the diner and shared the rest of it when I got home. Rainbow colors made me think of summer vacation and sleeping in a room called the rainbow room because of the rainbow bedspread and how it felt like the most colorful and creative room to sleep in. It could often be a very relaxing room, too. That's the room I think of when I think of listening to classical music tapes at night. Maybe it was the best room. Even tending to skinned knees and wounds was another nurturing thing that happened as child. Good grandparents would sing a little healing song in German which I've tried to reconstruct:
Heile Heile segen.
Drei Tagen regen.
Immer mehr (?) besser sind.
The unfortunate occurrence of falling down in a pothole this evening was also an opportunity to tend to some wounds, and be decent at it.
