If I ever had kids, I don't necessarily think they would need to take my last name. It's awkward to spell and pronounce it when you're not from the particular little region...you have to explain it all the time and answer questions about it...you'll go to Europe and they'll correct you on the pronunciation...I think it would be interesting if there ever were a study on the effects of all those accumulated conversations over the course of a lifetime.
