"Devaluing certain people makes us feel more like we finally get to live out 'The Dream' of being more like the 'Privileged Ones' who clearly don't feel the need to value anyone who's too different from whoever or whatever their petty patriarchal people taught them to value, and that should be good enough for them, too, and give them whatever they want to get out of this life."
