People who don't have basic access to food, water and shelter don't do as well on Planet Earth.

It's a good thing to have basic access to food, water and shelter.

I don't know where you think those things came from, but I guess if you grew up in a colonized society that wants you to believe it all came from a magical and oppressive white guy in the sky who wants you to drive out anybody who doesn't look more like him, then perhaps that's what gets you motivated to be a lot worse to other people than you actually needed to be, just so you could fit in better with the other colonized ones?
