I suppose the kvetchy German side is one who thinks that being so "positive" that you have to pretend things are okay and exclude certain types of people in order to have a nice life just feels too unhealthy, because it's kind of like a reminder of what happened before, when humans were convinced to be bad to others.
And not caring about nature enough to acknowledge that we could be doing better as a society and as a species on this planet is painful, and pretending that it is not happening doesn't diminish that experience.
But, if you are positive in a way that teaches me something about how to better celebrate life, or maybe even be able manage grief or other human emotions that are normal, I could respect and learn from that.
