I was thinking about tapestry and had this weird urge to look up someone I met a long time ago, and I managed to find her even though I only remembered her LAST name. And so...Hélène by D. Poe (and aloud).
Thanks for the shout out about Hélène (I just found while doing some updates to my website).
Not sure where you are located, but you might be interested in Indira Allegra's work. I just saw an installation of hers in Seattle this past Saturday: https://www.facebook.com/events/1966707770218212/
"Indira Allegra works with tension as creative material. The tension between intimacy and violence and tensions within the body all exist as materials stretched to their limits - like threads - pulled taught by the human hand. Using weaving as a methodology, she explores how these threads can be woven - through sculpture, installation and text/ile performance - creating interventions that respond to political and emotional space."
