Teeth are interesting again.

When you have to cancel the cleaning because the doctor told you one option verbally (if you can't afford it, you can get the regular cleaning now) and the woman at the front desk gives you new information (you absolutely must have the deep cleaning, even though you also have to pay for extra x-rays just to see if insurance will cover it), and contradicts what the doctor said previously about being able to put off the deep cleaning, except to say that now he's saying "you shouldn't let what your insurance says dictate your health." Words like "between jobs" "inflation" "Maybe it will be more affordable in a few months but it's not affordable right now especially if there is no guarantee that insurance will cover it" and "had a deep cleaning last year" apparently do not move her.

"Would you like me to cancel the appointment for you?"

"Based on what was communicated last time, no, but based on what you're telling me today, yes."

Okay, she'll cancel it.

Hmmmmm!!!!!!
