Okay, so my personal answer to this question is "It's because we still live in a very, very, very patriarchal society, and this is just how a lot of people were trained to deal with certain circumstances and repetitive challenges and social issues."

If liberal people really are so much better at caring about human rights for girls and women than conservative people are, then why do so many liberal people still subscribe to the group think that makes them turn their backs on so many other kinds of women and girls when those types of women and girls are inconvenient for them to acknowledge or pay attention to?
The question probably comes courtesy of many traumatizing experiences within the world of academia. Seriously, God, why did you want to send the weirdly violent people my way? And I don't mean like they're always actually physically violent. I mean they're violent as in, they tolerate violence so well. They're so good at not caring about the violence that's happening to other people, even in some cases to the ones working right alongside them, that it's the stuff of nightmares.
Just processing a little trauma here. It's just a little bump, but we're still evolving. Everything is fleeting. The time is going by so fast...
