They're capable, but they developed habits to fit in with others, and they are apparently addicted to them.

Your mom and dad really should be better people who are not awful to lots of types of girls and women.  They don't treat a lot people as well as they should and could. 

But you could wait forever for them to change. And they still wouldn't do it. 

Just don't be like them.
