For example, you're disappointed because as some people aged, they acted like they wanted to be a lot more subservient to patriarchal messages than you would have thought they would turn out to be.
But then you realized, maybe you just were comparing them too much to a lot of very articulate and vocal feminists. Because now you're looking at one particular person with a very strong addiction to groveling for the patriarchy as a survival strategy...
And then you're all like, Oh yeah, when you look at them through a different lens, maybe they're actually doing a lot better than you thought!
