Mewy Cat Mass & Auld Lang Syne

As the clock strikes midnight, let’s strive to bring closure to the people we were this year and embrace the hope of a newer, brighter future. I wish you, dear readers, an eventful new year filled with countless conversations between cherished friends.

Influential

"More than the testimony of mere survival, many victims emerged from Nazi inhumanity to live lives of loving kindness toward others.

In this way, survivors such as Ethel inspired a multitude to live exemplary lives and warn the world about the dangers of intolerance and racial hatred.

The Polish survivor born Ethel Katz inspired me. In America, her name was Ethel Black, and she was my mother.

See, I'm still telling her story."

Interesting information is relayed by imperfect sources online.

I really don't agree with the denials that atrocities were violently inflicted on others (which is what some are choosing to do at this time, for who knows what reason), but what I do find interesting in this clip from a newscast in 1984 is how Edwin Black's parents (Ethel Black & Harry Black) describe their initial reactions to him working on "The Transfer Agreement" and then how their attitudes & outlooks evolved as he continued to work on it.

"Before the Soviet Red Army destroyed the German Wehrmacht in WWII, the Zionist movement had cut a secret transfer deal with the Nazis and broken the Jewish American boycott of Hitler

8 decades later, Israel is painting restive refugees as Nazis and bombing them in their ghetto"

What was that book I borrowed and read so many years ago...

For some reason, it came back to me as I was chopping vegetables yesterday. It is called Reach For The Rainbow by Lynne Finney.

"Reach for the Rainbow: Advanced Healing for Survivors"

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/910096.Reach_for_the_Rainbow

Yes, that is the correct one, with the cover I remember.

"When Lynne Finney was going through therapy, she wanted to help herself heal. But she couldn't find any self-help books for incest victims.

 So she wrote one.

Finney, who lives in Park City, has a book coming out in February called 'Reach for the Rainbow' about sexual abuse and the disassociative disorders it can cause.

'One-third of the book is a section on self-help,' she says. 'I talk about affirmations, self-hypnosis, controlling your emotions, how to nurture yourself.'

Finney went back to school recently to get her master's degree in social work so she could counsel incest victims. She wants to tell them they didn't deserve to be abused.

From the time we are tiny, she says, we are taught that God loves good little children. Abused children translate that to mean that, since they are having horrible experiences, they must be bad.

'A lot of abused children grow up believing that God doesn't love them,' she says. 'I hope I help them reach a different conclusion.'"

"‘Was this all my fault?’: Lemn Sissay’s painful yet hope-filled memoir"

https://www.theguardian.com/society/2019/aug/24/was-this-all-my-fault-lemn-sissays-painful-yet-joyous-memoir

'''You don’t love us, do you?'

I said, 'Yeees, I do love you.'

'We want you to spend the next day thinking about love and what it is. Read the scriptures and give us your most honest and truthful answer tomorrow.'

That was it! It was a clear instruction from Mum and Dad. I studied the question for a day and a night, I prayed to God, and I read the Bible to see if a passage would answer the question. It was a question to which I already had the answer. Of course I loved them. Mum had always said that love was never in question. I started thinking all over again.

If they were asking me whether I loved them or not, and if they were the ones who taught me about love, then maybe I didn’t love them, otherwise they wouldn’t ask. This led me to the answer I thought they wanted me to get to. They wanted me to ask God for forgiveness and through him I will learn to love them. His love will shine through me and them. And in the Baptist faith a sinner must ask forgiveness for his sins. The theology was perfect, the timing unquestionable and the answer as honest as a sinner could get.

Tomorrow came and I said it with pride because I thought I had found the answer they wanted me to find: 'I mustn’t love you,' I said. I looked at their faces to see if I had said the right thing. 'But I will ask God for forgiveness… and learn to love you.' This was the perfect answer. 'Seek and ye shall find.' This is what they wanted to seek. And this is what I found.

She looked at me as if I had wounded her. 'You don’t love us, you don’t want to be with us?' All of this happened the day after they had made this call to the social worker.

31 December 1979: 'Message left after Christmas saying that the Greenwoods wanted Norman removed without further notice.' Social worker’s report

31 December 1979: 'Spoke to foster parents on telephone. Both almost insisted Norman had to leave today.' Social worker’s report

2 January 1980: 'Attitudes seemed hardened and therefore I arranged to take Norman to Woodfields.' Social worker’s report

3 January 1980: My mum wouldn’t hug me as I left, so I hugged her. Norman Mills, my new social worker, waited at the gate. He put me gently in the car. I looked back, but they were turning to go indoors, mindful of the neighbours. The car filled with quiet loss. Mum told me they will never visit me because it is my choice to leave them because I didn’t love them.

We passed the butcher’s and the chemist’s and Wigan Road and passed the Flower Park and the main park, the junior school and Byrchall High School, and then unfamiliar territory unfolded before me: the East Lancashire Road. One dual carriageway, with a single destination: Woodfields.

This was the beginning of the end of open arms and warm hugs. This was the beginning of empty Christmas time and hollow birthdays. This was the beginning of not being touched. I’m 12. And it is my fault. This is what I have chosen. The journey took about 45 minutes, or 45 seconds. Or 45 years.

I said to Norman Mills in the car: “I know this is my fault and I will ask God for forgiveness.” He kept his eyes on the road, but his hands gripped tighter on the wheel. He tapped the indicator and pulled quietly into a lay-by and turned the engine off. 'None of this is your fault. None of it.' I had no idea what he meant.

Night can’t drive out night

Only the light above

Fear can’t drive out fear

Only love"

So, it seems to me that many people need to heal with not just others, but also with themselves

They have been given all sorts of messages that being mean to themselves would help them to survive somehow, but they can have a better life, and be nicer to themselves, and then if they want to also connect with others as a way of enriching their lives, it will be so much easier for them if they can just re-learn how to be very good to themselves in a healthy and balanced way.

Yes, I know.

I am sorry that you sometimes feel disappointed that people who had potential to do things differently are still being quite obtuse, and that thinking about those kinds of thing too much really wasn't very good for your health, but you will still need to look for all the good things on Earth that will help you and will nourish your body and spirit.

Dill in a dish is very dill~icious

"Native Gazan cooking is distinct within Palestine: The cuisine is heavy with spicy red and green chile peppers; dill and dill seed; the use of red tahina, concentrated and rust-colored, made in small batches by toasting sesame seeds over an open flame; and seafood dishes built on sea bream, sardines, shrimp, and crabs. Even the zibdiya, the coarse clay bowls used as mortars for pestling and baking, come from the earth. If food culture begins as an expression of the relationship between people and their environment, then political exigencies are inseparable from Palestinian food. It is as simple as asking: Is there olive oil tonight?"

~ E. Alex Jung

https://www.vulture.com/article/the-gaza-kitchen-laila-el-haddad-interview.html

I guess she met with Anthony Bourdain in more peaceful times.

"In 2014, she featured in CNN program Parts Unknown with celebrity chef and gastronome Anthony Bourdain, in the episode titled "Jerusalem, the West Bank, and Gaza" as his guide in the Gaza Strip, marking the first time a mainstream American audience had seen Gaza in this ordinary, humorous and humane light."

http://www.lailahaddad.com/about

It might be interesting to read her books and articles.

"El-Haddad has published two books.[4] Gaza Mom: Palestine, Politics, Parenting, and Everything In Between, published in 2010, is a compilation of El-Haddad's blogs and other writing about her daily life as she covers the story of Gaza while living it and trying to explain it to her children.[1] In 2013, she co-authored The Gaza Kitchen: A Palestinian Culinary Journey with Maggie Schmitt; this cookbook of recipes from across the Gaza Strip both explores the food heritage of the region and tells the stories of Gazan women and men to portray the reality of Palestinian life from a personal perspective.[5][6]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laila_el-Haddad

"She traveled to the United States to attend Duke University, and then went on to receive her MPP from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, where she was awarded the Clinton Scholarship for Palestinian graduate students.[2] She moved to Gaza to work as a journalist while her husband remained in the US. The experience of constantly waiting, whether for documentation or for borders to open, informs her take on the issues that Palestinians face today.[1]"

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Laila_el-Haddad

What can be done better today after what was decided yesterday?

"'Earlier on during the course of this genocide I had some hope, I kept saying that someone at some point will do something to stop this, and now I only see apocalyptic scenarios, I only see death and destruction,' Haddad said in her update to the court.

'The US is not even trying to pretend that it cares about Palestinians.'"

And yet...

"DANIEL LEVY: Do you really keep a straight face when you say that? Do you think terrorist organizations, embedded in populations who are denied their most basic rights, are ended once and for all in a military campaign? Does that happen in history? Can someone credibly tell me that when the leadership of a country says, 'We are cutting off food, electricity, water, all supplies to an entire civilian population,” that they’re targeting militants?

I’m sorry, these kind of lies can’t be allowed to pass. And when you tell yourself the lie, it leads to the wrong policy. If anyone told me that what the militants did on the weekend was a legitimate response to years and years of occupation, I would say, 'No, you’re wrongheaded. You’ve lost sight of humanity and reality.' And if anyone tells me that what Israel is doing in Gaza today is a legitimate response to what happened on the weekend, it’s exactly the same.

MARYAM MOSHIRI: And yet they are saying it. And yet the international community is saying that.

DANIEL LEVY: Yes, and people need to challenge them on it, because it’s a lie. And we’re warmongering if we allow them to get away with it."

Human Beings Deserve MUCH Better Than The Patriarchal Norms.

"Michele Goodwin, a law professor at the University of California, Irvine, and author of 'Policing The Womb,' said the case follows a pattern of women’s pregnancies being criminalized against them. She said those efforts have long overwhelmingly targeted Black and brown women.

Even before Roe was overturned, studies show that Black women who visited hospitals for prenatal care were 10 times more likely than white women to have child protective services and law enforcement called on them, even when their cases were similar, she said.

'Post-Dobbs, what we see is kind of a wild, wild West,' said Goodwin. 'You see this kind of muscle-flexing by district attorneys and prosecutors wanting to show that they are going to be vigilant, they’re going to take down women who violate the ethos coming out of the state’s legislature.'”

Maybe Choline will help me eat ice cream!

Or, French frozen yogurt made with A2 milk? It was on sale. And it empowers girls globally!

Is that including the ones without lots of money in their current situation?

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps.

Things can change! Tomorrow can be different from today in a good way!

It's just that yesterday, I didn't listen to my intuition, and not long after, the car window was smashed. It reminds me that whenever I have needed to say "No," or not go along with what others were doing, there's been some kind of a reason.

I am really looking forward to my next meal!

"On a recent hour-long phone call with The Post, echoing similar conversations between economists across social media and among policymakers, Stevenson and Wolfers gently cut each other off several times as they contrasted their views of economic discontent, eager to avoid being mischaracterized.

After Wolfers reiterated that average Americans were not acting like they were concerned with the economy, Stevenson said, “What makes me feel unsatisfied with that as a full answer — and I know it’s squishy — is when I talk to real people —” Wolfers interjected, 'And this is a terrible answer. I’ll explain to you why it’s horrible and why journalists need to not do this.'

Stevenson forged ahead: 'What I found walking around Michigan, in casual conversations — watching people standing in lines together, commiserating over the economy — I feel like people seem to genuinely have real concerns.”

She cited skyrocketing housing prices, high interest rates and ongoing affordability challenges. “Trying to figure out how people feel — it’s true we can look at their behavior, but that doesn’t necessarily tell us everything,” Stevenson said. “Justin should keep making his arguments, and we should be open to many different people’s arguments, because a disconnect like this could be very important for the country.”

Wolfers said this was unsatisfying, because it’s impossible to draw meaningful conclusions about something as large as the economy from casual conversations with strangers in one place. But even as he expressed frustration with his wife’s arguments, he acknowledged that they had again at least forced him to reconsider how to frame his assumptions.

“We have similar values, and so it’s easy to overstate where the values differ,” Wolfers said. “The disagreement between us is sometimes painful. But it’s always productive.”

Some thoughts and feelings came through in a message.

There is an energy worker who is inviting people to a donation-based ceremony about healing the feminine, and she specifically notes you do not have to have physically given birth or have a womb in order to be included. She makes it clear that she also extends her invitation to include people whose wombs were removed, or who were not born with a womb. This kind of inclusiveness feels healing. It is appreciated, and it may even be the wave of the future.

People really need to heal their nervous systems and take care of themselves

Recovering from a petty theft and our vehicle getting its passenger side window smashed while out on a little excursion...oh, world.

What other kinds of new approaches can your creative imagination come up with?

As it has become extremely obvious that the Patriarchal Ones really were trained to treat you a whole lot differently than they were trained to treat other kinds of people (at this particular point in time, but perhaps not forever)?

What a lot of things!!!!

Well my tired, achey back and other parts of me can get some rest now, and I do feel it would be so lovely to have the very best dental and healthcare. Everyone deserves the best!

Wow, I had dream about 1960s airline stewardesses.

They came around and violently fluffed all the head rests of the passengers' airplane seats at the end of the flight. Who knows if that was realistic?

I bet the world's Relief Organizations would like it.

Go to bed, sleep well, wake up and discover the violently unwell "world leaders" are getting cut off from their drug connections and going to rehab. Did you see the one about the recovering drug addict on the Near Death Experience channel? I think my nervous system was remembering that I used to process electrical storms as a scary war happening when I was a young human being in this lifetime. Interesting...

Hey, train and the rain.

I would love make toast. I am going to get some bread again, soon.

Can hardly believe it.

I was young once, and very occasionally went to night clubs for a "fun" and stimulating time? Not something that I want to do right now, I can tell...

I felt something like shaking. Is that an electrical storm or plate tectonics thing

My nervous system is also making me feel incredulous that there's a whole thing about some how people are on that path of traumatizing, gaslighting, and making you almost feel comfortable with being concerned about their well-being all at the same time.

This one is better and encompasses more than it's title, I believe.

Maybe I'd call it something like "Help With Healing Sorrows" but it is listed as

What a collective effort!

Maybe it'll become a moral awakening

"Gaza war is world’s ‘moral failure’, Red Cross chief says"

Reuters

GENEVA — The head of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) today deplored the conflict in Gaza as a 'moral failure' of the international community and urged Israel and Hamas to reach a new deal to halt the fighting.

'I have been speaking of moral failure because every day this continues is a day more where the international community hasn’t proven capable of ending such high levels of suffering and this will have an impact on generations not only in Gaza,' ICRC President Mirjana Spoljaric told journalists in Geneva following trips to the Gaza Strip and Israel."

Maybe Finger Pointing is an Act of Kindness in Some Circumstances.

"The head of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency in Gaza today told us that even when the flow of aid picks back up to prewar levels, the backlog means it will take months to get much-needed assistance to those in need in Gaza. “There are hundreds of thousands of people living under pieces of plastic right now. To bring in the supplies required to get them into shelter is a mammoth task. We’ve lost thousands and thousands of trucks that should have come in, haven’t come in,” Tom White, head of UNRWA in Gaza, said from inside Gaza. White also pointed a finger of blame at Israel, stating that it has “deliberately used food, water, fuel as a weapon of war,” adding that he’s never seen “as a humanitarian in a conflict zone in a situation where there is so little I available to deliver to people.” Israel has consistently denied that it is using the Gaza blockade as a means of collective punishment.

"People are living in a ubiquitous, inescapable state of conflict as unrelenting bombardments are met with starvation, thirst and disease, UNICEF spokesperson James Elder told NBC News of his visit to Gaza. 'If we just were dealing with food, water, medicine, sanitation, you'd have the highest-level humanitarian emergency the U.N. could classify,' said Elder, who noted people are dying of starvation. 'You've got that and this unrelenting bombardment, that's what makes Gaza so stressful and difficult.'"

Does dealing with stress by eating cold bean soup and chocolate chips and mini marshmallows count as praying?

It's time to pray...

"Hours before the sniper attack, the patriarchate said that rockets fired from an Israeli tank hit the Convent of the Sisters of Mother Theresa, which is part of the church compound and home to 54 disabled people. The first rocket destroyed the building’s fuel sources and generator ― the convent’s only source of electricity ― and caused an explosion and massive fire that damaged the house. Two subsequent rockets on the convent rendered the home uninhabitable, according to the patriarchate

“'The 54 disabled persons are currently displaced and without access to the respirators that some of them need to survive,' the statement said. Layla Moran, a member of British Parliament, said that she has several family members sheltering inside the same church compound. On Saturday, the lawmaker said that military forces had taken over a building opposite to the church and that 'there are snipers at every window pointing to the church.' Pope Francis, who has repeatedly spoken out against the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, expressed concern on Sunday about Israel’s church attacks, which he described as 'terrorism.' 'I continue to receive very grave and painful news from Gaza,' he said during his weekly blessing. 'Unarmed civilians are the objects of bombings and shootings. And this happened even inside the Holy Family parish complex, where there are no terrorists, but families, children, people who are sick or disabled, nuns.'”

"Israeli Forces Attack Church Compound In Gaza Just Days Before Christmas The Latin Patriarchate of Jerusalem said the Israeli military killed two women and displaced dozens of disabled people sheltering at the Holy Family Parish"

Here I am, in the wee morning hours, listening to the rain and reading The Vatican News.

"Samar, the Christian woman killed at the Holy Family Parish while attempting to aid her mother, Nahida, who had just been shot by an Israeli sniper."

"The Israeli military on Saturday entered the compound of the Holy Family Catholic Parish in Gaza, shooting at anyone leaving the church. The victims are an elderly woman and her daughter who rushed out of the building to rescue her mother. Israel has justified the attack, claiming the presence of a missile launcher in the parish."

What are we here for?

"'From our positions on the Intelligence, Armed Services, and Foreign Affairs Committees, we have consistently pushed for Israel to shift its military strategy —there has been no significant change,' the letter says. 'We have dedicated our lives to national security and believe our nation's values are a source of credibility and power. Some of us also spent years fighting America's war on terror. We know from personal and often painful experience that you can't destroy a terror ideology with military force alone. And it can, in fact, make it worse.'"

The letter concludes: 'We urge you to continue to use all our leverage to achieve an immediate and significant shift of military strategy and tactics in Gaza.'"

It's time to go ahead and expect better.

"We are deeply concerned by PM Netanyahu's current military strategy in Gaza. The mounting civilian death toll and humanitarian crisis are unacceptable and not in line with American interests; nor do they advance the cause of security for our ally Israel," the letter says. "We also believe it jeopardizes efforts to destroy the terrorist organization Hamas and secure the release of all hostages."

Love can be like saying "No," to the ones asking for more candy.

People need to stop making excuses for unwell, abusive people. It's not even good for them...they keep on feeling entitled to behave in ways that are unwell and abusive. Really doesn't feel good to know that they're being enabled by other to keep on being irresponsible and harmful to others, and even irresponsible and harmful to themselves.

What a good dog!

An emotional support dog was helping a young man get through his grocery shopping trip today and it made my eyes well up as I went through the checkout line. Thank God not everyone believes they must act like General Patton in this lifetime.

Another mood:

A man was taking care of two girls who kept trying to get him to buy more stuff and he said "What were you thinking?" And "I'm about to strangle you," but it was all very ticklish and amusing.

And another mood:

There was a very nice Dad who went out of his way to tell me to go ahead of him in line because I only had a few items.

And yet another mood:

"Made made made for the best delights!"

An appointment was a fairly good experience.

The ultrasound technician was very nice to me today, and she said that I will get results in a few days.

Who could it be?

I visited a Veteran's Memorial today and out of nowhere it felt like Big Message came at me like there's a masculine person out there who is sorry he's treated someone badly. Like me. Was it me? Someone like me?

"You know, you make a better door than a window."

Quit asking all the babies about this life's earthly incarnation goals. Sheesh.

Ever wonder where someone might have lived previously?

I would totally wonder. I have wondered. I wonder, and wonder again. And again!

Palestine Looks Beautiful!

"On Christmas Eve there is a parade through the town. This is very important to the Christian part of the population. There are bagpipe bands in the parade, which you might not expect! Playing the bagpipes is a tradition left over from when the British army occupied the area between 1920 and 1948. People also dress up as Santa Claus and give out sweets. The streets and main square are decorated with lights."

"Perhaps the grandchildren won't feel like it's so fun to repeat old discriminatory patterns."

"Perhaps it's an Unhealed Control Issue."

When the patriarchy rewards some people who became more insensitive, narcissistic, greedy, and self-absorbed for fitting in with others who also became insensitive, narcissistic, greedy, and self-absorbed.

I got painfully sad about "socially acceptable" discrimination again.

Being insensitive to people with health challenges is not good for the babies, or the children, or the grown-ups.

It's far too hurtful and oppressive to be good for any of them.

People who grew up with unhealthy patriarchal standards, who chose to go along with them just to fit in with others, were capable of being so much better to their fellow human beings.

Body? Can you speak to me?

"there was an old woman who swallowed a fly but i dont know why she swallowed a fly i guess she'll die"

Ah, life. Hydration is so important.

Earlier today I saw a little bit of something, like just a few short minutes, and I ascertained that C. really needs to heal from his feelings of humiliation. Relax, you can do it.

Sigh. I just wondered why I had so many strange experiences in this life, and why I  encountered so many bad feelings, and they were so repetitive and just awful, but I am pretty sure I am getting better at processing things.

It's nice and more healing for me, I can say.

(There's a Fallbrook in Montana?)

What a thirsty day this has been.

Dear Human Babies of all ages who might be dealing with getting their bodies back to balance in the future. I will need to figure out why my mood improved and yet I became so exhausted and after a grocery trip for almost all Very Healthy Food. Water is Life.

Oh God, is it really that simple.

I have begun to achieve a very good and important shift, inside of myself. I am simply acknowledging that I can change in ways that are healthy and good. I feel better. Finally! Thank You!

Perhaps it was a magical carrot top.

I have a good feeling ever since I ate the top of a carrot that got accidentally mixed into other greens. I actually really want to eat some more carrot tops mixed in with other things in a salad. I am getting back in touch with myself. I am getting better, at least on some levels. I can love becoming a healthier human being. Wow, what a great idea!

I love to believe in our possibilities...

What if we get so much more into healing and releasing old things, so we can feel much better? I love this idea.

Earth Lessons 🙏😉🩷

Just imagine, so many of us are going to get so much happier, and healthier, and better...I really believe it can be like that again.

I think it's true.

I believe in best wishes and best health for all and all kinds of talents.

I am open to it.

If the Universe wants to send me messages in my dreams about how to improve my health concerns, considering the circumstances. I am curious to know and learn and grow more. Thank You!

Don't Humans of All Ages Deserve Better Than The Senseless Violence & Bad Healthcare?

"Palestinian UN ambassador Riyad Mansour told a General Assembly meeting on the war that Israel 'targets those who could document (their) crimes and inform the world, the journalists.'

'We mourn one of those journalists, Samer Abu Daqqa, wounded in an Israeli drone strike and left to bleed to death for 6 hours while ambulances were prevented from reaching him,' Mansour said.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalists, Abu Daqqa is the 64th journalist to be killed since the conflict erupted between Hamas and Israel: 57 Palestinians, four Israelis and three Lebanese journalists."

"Abudaqa, a cameraman for Al Jazeera Arabic in Gaza, was hit in an Israeli drone attack while reporting at Farhana school in Khan Younis. His colleague, Al Jazeera Arabic correspondent Wael Dahdouh, who lost his wife, son, daughter and grandson in a previous Israeli bombing, was wounded.

Journalists in Gaza are carrying a 'human and noble message' for the world amid the ongoing war and will continue to work despite Israeli attacks, Dahdouh said in his eulogy.

'We will continue to do our duty with professionalism and transparency,' he said, as mourners around him wept."

Sometimes it feels like I kept seeing some people's potential to be actually honest and truthful, not selfish and disrespectful, but they kept ruining the vision with their addictions to the same old unhealthy choices and untrustworthy behavior patterns.
