I was crocheting a hat as a gift and I thought I was just about ready to finish it and send it but the stitches were off and they've been off the entire time I've been making it.
This is why counting stitches is smart.
On the other hand, sometimes people can improvise halfway through and just make it look slightly different, but I'm just going to start over.
