Because a part of me could too

I feel I really admire my friend who teaches English in other countries and travels to monasteries in the U.S.

♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡♡

E A R T H. H E A R T.

I dreamed I was walking over a meadow and parting from a man who writes when a force pushed me towards the earth.

So then I was looking at the sun and grasses and talking to myself, saying this is what I should do...I was just to lay on the earth and let that heal me. I was walking and searching for the right place...

As for the man who writes, I was quite recently talking with someone about this author in the waking life...

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neil_Postman

It's not only one thing

I was reading the writing of a young woman who is far from her country and her mother...she misses her mother...she has her own daughter...

Physically & emotionally

I was sick with sorrow again and very tired of that happening. It should be better now.

That's another thing to ponder

Kids are open in ways that adults are not.
I like that about kids, too.

Some very creative people can tap into that, but it still seems like the adult world is full of...traps or something. Interference. Adult disappointment or resentment or loss of trust or anxiety or some other things? And people are encouraged to develop in certain ways ...

Maybe if something disappoints or needs a better scaffolding in order to become more meaningful that is because there is an opportunity to learn something about how to become a new kind of person.

Solution

After a lengthy conversation about various cultural differences, ending with how the elderly are treated in different places, the roommate and I agreed not to think about our old age right now.

"That's too far."

Possible travel destination

If a town is also the name of a loved one's dog and then you think about going to the town and then as you are sitting on a bench reading about geography a stranger appears with a big red dog who pokes his face into your space but all in the spirit of curiosity and friendliness and his owner says "Come away,  Name of the Town."

Satisfaction

I have been helpful. I have given assistance with parts of projects and sent along examples....can  imagine the partial help turning into something more...heads bowed over little handouts, details being discussed...more work being completed...feel good about that.

A tale of two...

Smoothies.

There was the men's one and there was the rules-laden one.

To be clear.

There were some guidelines for the men's smoothie.

True, true.

HOWEVER...

Steaming veggies. That you will blend into smoothie. But not too cold of a smoothie. And...

Gentle observations

Was feeling pretty positive about drinking herbal infusions and forgetting that its the worst time of the cycle (because symptoms are much diminished!) & then...yes, I paid for eating  ricotta and panko at an inauspicious time but at least a heating pad and a cup of ginger tea is here & it still seems not quite so bad...

Stuffed squash blossom secrets

You most certainly can sub 99 cent store rice cereal for panko "bread" crumbs. Even though they r messy and u feel like the process is a REMINDER of life's torment and suffering still ur lucky to go to the Farmers Market and get 3 that are big enough in a bunch to stuff properly. Dip, cover in rice cereal, and bake. It's great. Also you can use the leftover stuff in a mixture and roll into balls / coat w/ baby rice cereal.

By the way...

So since you can't watch that Redoubt movie

You want to lay in the park on a blanket staring up at trees and a few stars while listening to a guy singing a folk song with flute accompaniment next to the little dog water fountain and a woman with a microphone singing "Dream a Little Dream of Me" with the band by the big decorative water fountain and then get a cold brew which you almost never do and pick a fun quote from a text. Why sure.

Here 'tis:

"Despite their appearance, pebble plains have high floral diversity" (Maile Neel, Southern California Mountains and Foothills Assessment, pg. 54)

The mind works weirdly...a lot...

But anyways now I know what my childhood says...it says there was a situation where some kids met and hung out and at the end maybe they were watching television and then it was time to go and that's when the kids said they'd see each other again and the adults didn't think that would happen (either they said so out loud or they thought so...telepathy...) and so one said to the other to promise and the other did that...is that...something???

Earth...liiiiife

I phoned the front desk, and have made nice purchases of herbs and I suppose the acupuncture appointment overall may have helped. But there was this also bizarre interaction:

Checker of vitals: Do you have children
Patient: No, I don't have children.
Checker of vitals: I'm sorry.
Patient: I bet my cat's not sorry! (just kidding)

Forgotten woman with needles sticking out of her.

They said 1/2 hour. Its been one.

I spoke up twice ... Now 3x ... when someone passed.

The man in the next room is getting a lot of attention. Easily 8 x more than I got.

Should I yell loudly or call the clinic since I managed to get my phone?

Interesting girls

Two of my friends in college became priests or pastors and one of my friends from 6th grade and beyond told me she might become a nun. (Buddhist).

For some reason the billionaires don't seem as interested in these gross but necessary details.

Maybe they are more interested in getting their status boosted as cult leaders, and those details are more of a distraction to the image they want to promote. They have vast networks of people who are invested in their status as well, like movie stars with teams of people surrounding them.

Then the dream showed a man falling out of a tree. He was a father with a son. The son had a girlfriend. They were helping the man. They were climbing a tree. The man looked like Epstein.

Maybe one for fifth graders to address modern matters...

"There are also sexual factors that apply uniquely to girls. Our daughters hit puberty earlier than our sons do, and the age of puberty for girls keeps dropping. It is now no longer unusual to see a fifth grader sporting an adult woman’s body. To make matters worse, girls develop their grown-up bodies while being inundated by images communicating the strong and distinct message that women are valued mainly for their sex appeal. Making matters worse still, widely seen marketing content often exploits young girls..."

Aural magic

Based on previous experience, sometimes the components that make a breakdown feel so devastating also attract a calm spirit who says, like a good physician, "Stay with me, stay with me..."

Symptoms

"Rep. Emanuel Cleaver suffered a bout of vertigo after Tuesday’s raucous House session that culminated in the Missouri Democrat abandoning his chair while presiding over the chamber.

His dropping of the gavel in disgust—the most dramatic moment in the debate on a resolution condemning President Donald Trump’s tweets attacking four congresswomen as racist—came after Republicans invoked an obscure rule that prevents lawmakers from directly calling the president racist.

That night, Cleaver, who has episodes of the inner ear condition that can affect balance, returned to his Washington, D.C., apartment and became ill.

'The latest thing in my chart is presiding over the House of Representatives,' said Cleaver, who explained that his doctor keeps a record of activities leading to each flare up.

While Cleaver isn’t claiming that the House debate triggered his symptoms, he does suggest that they underscore the problems ailing Washington, which include the increasing lack of civility."

~ B. Lowry

Or...maybe...

She sounds interesting.

"Courtney Wild has been fighting for justice since 2011, when she and another anonymous victim sued the federal government to challenge Epstein’s 2008 non-prosecution agreement, claiming that, by not informing victims of the deal, prosecutors violated the Crime Victims Rights’ Act. A judge ruled in their favor earlier this year.

Wild told the Herald that at the time she met Epstein, her mother was on drugs and couldn’t provide for her. 'Jeffrey preyed on girls who were in a bad way, girls who were basically homeless,' she said. 'He went after girls who he thought no one would listen to, and he was right.' In a press conference on Tuesday, Wild urged other victims to come forward."

This could be a movie. Add "on Mars."

"Women have a harder time for a couple of reasons. They live longer than men, who tend to look for female partners significantly younger than they are. As heterosexual women age, therefore, the pool of possible partners shrinks. Then again, some women may prefer to stay single. Several studies have shown that older women often enjoy their independence and are less interested than men in re-partnering.

Still, the economic effects of gray divorce on women can be brutal. Gray-divorced women age 63 and older face a poverty rate of 26.9%, compared with 11.4% for gray-divorced men and only about 3% for couples who stayed married or re-married after a divorce.

Social Security is supposed to keep seniors out of poverty, but its rules leave behind many divorced women. The program lets women access their ex-spouse’s benefits only if the marriage lasted at least 10 years. That’s not enough time for many gray-divorced women, who receive an average annual Social Security benefit of $10,995, the lowest of all groups studied by Brown and her colleagues."

"While Oregon will be the eighth state in the country to pass a paid family leave law, employers in the state will not be surprised to learn that the law is the most progressive in the nation's history, in several respects. First, it will not only provide 12 weeks of paid time off for new parents and those who need to care for an ill family member who has a serious health condition or for the employee's own serious health condition, it will also provide paid leave for victims of domestic violence, harassment, stalking, or sexual assault. Oregon will be only the second state after New Jersey to include victims of domestic violence in its paid family leave law."

That is not how I would describe my first squash blossom stuffing experience.

Probably because the ones I got at the farmers market were not huge like the one in the photo.

Will I ever find out which program taught me about the city that was covered in ash when a volcano erupted.

Perhaps not.

But there's a lot about what the program probably left out...

Interference

It's what happens sometimes.

A TV show? Two girls walking home from church get hit by a car? Was it about death? Where...

Interference is a part of life.

I don't know...

Take the cobwebs

Spin them into threads.
Twist them into ropes.
Braid them...

Reality is in the mind

Why did you appear in a dream, girl I thought was so talented. What is this for? You said you were working  in a car dealership. And you are married with a kid and I am not. What is this for? Do you want to talk about books again? Do something we did long ago? Walk on a beach? Enjoy a meal? Talk and laugh in your apartment? Anything anything anything...

I will go find some trees tomorrow.

Fairytales seep into you.
More than you know.
How...
What do you do...
If anything...
Ever...
Take a walk sometime.

Really you do!!!!

Meet.
So.
Many.
People.

Even introverts do.

Mood(s)

  1. Can't sleep and really wanting to get in touch with some girls I haven't seen in decades. Why are we not in touch? One of you has a kid who is probably grown up by now, or close to it, eh? How did that happen. Changed last names. You! Did you ever finish college? You! I could have been reading a book you wrote by now! & you! You said you were going to get married in Italy. I could not afford to go to that.
  2. I have to browse YouTube for song clips. We didn't have that easy instantaneous access to video when we were writing letters...
  3. Do you want to walk in a park? Or on a trail...
  4. Like have a conversation before someone is reading the other's obituary
  5. We ate at Italian places. Not often. But enough.
  6. (To remember.)
Now my mind is going back to New York at Christmas and none of that group was even there. Those were PNW girls.

"Dressed in riding boots, light grey jodhpurs, and a peach jacket, Carroll started the tour by applauding two men in the group. 'Unprecedented!' she cried.

After acknowledging her connection to Bergdorf’s, Carroll turned to the Plaza Hotel across the street, where women were blocked from its Oak Room until 1969. 'In the ‘60s and ‘70s, you could not make a business deal in New York unless it was in the Oak Room,' she said. She held up a photo of Betty Friedan, who successfully led protests to open up the bar and restaurant, now used for private functions, to women. 'Which just ruined men’s fun,' pouted Carroll. 'When you’re signing your next million-dollar contract, remember—good old Betty helped us out.'"

BETTY HELPED US OUT???!!!

"Next stop was Tiffany & Co., where we heard about Paula Smith, the woman who in 1994 won an unprecedentedly large settlement of $365,000 when she sued her former employer. Smith was head of estate jewelry at Tiffany, and when she complained about sexual harassment, the company took action—by firing her.

In just a few blocks and over two hours, we covered Trump Tower, St. Patrick’s Cathedral, Rockefeller Center, Fox News, CBS headquarters, and Studio 54. As we traveled the sites, Carroll recounted allegations against Trump (referencing Ivana Trump’s now-recanted rape allegations), Cardinal Theodore McCarrick, Bill Cosby, Matt Lauer, Bill O’Reilly, Louis CK, Charlie Rose, Les Moonves, and Kevin Spacey.

Most of us know how #MeToo stories go. The grotesque details are no longer shocking; the tales of powerful men exploiting their authority coalesce into a cacophony of abuse. Carroll’s accusations in June largely disappeared into the din. They didn’t appear on the front page of the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, or Chicago Tribune; the New York Times only published a print article two days after the news broke, and later said it underplayed the story.

With her bawdy humor and enthusiastic shouts, Carroll, who encouraged the group to bring snacks and canned wine on the tour, is trying to tell a different story."

The Numbers!

"Nearly 55% of veterans 65 and older said they believe Trump respects veterans and the military. Pew also said that male veterans are "17 percentage points more likely than their female counterparts to say Trump respects veterans a great deal (50% vs. 33%)."

Additionally, vets who served before Sept. 11, 2001 are more likely than those who served after to say that Trump administration policies have made the military stronger. That division also applies to the president's potential use of nuclear weapons.

"Pre-9/11 vets, 38% of respondents, are more likely to trust Trump when it comes to a nuclear weapons strike than those who served more recently, the report states. Younger veterans are less trusting, especially those who may have suffered from a trauma associated with a combat deployment.

Veterans who say they 'had an emotionally traumatic experience while in combat,' 27% of respondents, are less likely to trust Trump in making decisions about the use of force than are those who didn't, the researchers said."

i have been drinking water

i lost 3 lbs between this afternoon and this evening and i was not trying but bodies are weird

It's enough

I hope there's a good reason for days like today.
Like getting purified or something.

Head on a body

I love that nature sent birds to the tree outside my window and I really love that the light is dimming or perhaps softening.

In this body

Had a variety of illness symptoms all day.

Remembering a woman who told me she goes to Paris for the holidays because she lost family in Hurricane Katrina.

Do any of these suggestions sound good....

Southern climes

More rough weather.

https://www.nbcnews.com/news/weather/gulf-coast-braces-major-cluster-thunderstorms-hurricane-potential-n1028191

"Meteorologists said the Mississippi River could rise to 19 feet by the weekend, just a foot short of the height of the city's aging levees.

'Even though I grew up with Midwestern tornadoes and summer storms, this was next level in terms of the absolute deluge of water coming down so fast,' Ellen Austin, a high school teacher from California who was in town for a convention, told NBC affiliate WDSU of New Orleans.

'The water just came up in the streets in what felt like no time at all,' Austin said. 'And we have been cut off, with doors blocked with towels to keep water out, since this morning. It's been a bit surreal.'

A waterspout, a kind of a tornado that forms over a body of water, was spotted over Lake Pontchartrain, WDSU reported."

Life is such a cornucopia

Some people need to try out stuff like this.

The Try Guys Try Labor Pain Simulation

"Doing the pain simulator has been our number one most requested activity." (OO:25)

I don't. But some might!

Consider.

heheheheheeeeeCACKLE

I was thinking about how when I was a kid, there was this woman we met who had a son and did everything herself, including build a cabin with her own two hands.

I thought it would be cool to grow up to be like that.

I can see a story formulating:

"Much like Crossfit, training for the IronMan, and HIIT exercise, building a cabin with your own two hands while simultaneously raising a son as a single mother could make your PCOS worse!

So drink some of this Nettle tea instead."

"Or rather, an infusion. Why not? She certainly seems in charge of her life."

Everything is self-filtered

Of course humans get out of balance. This is life on Earth and crazy things are happening all the time. In spite of (or perhaps because of?) the wealth of information out there, sometimes I have dealt with stress by eating something when I wasn't hungry.

"I’m going to stick with diet and exercise as the two most important pieces in terms of addressing PCOS."
