I had thoughts on what could happen as Society evolves for the better.

Like, even if you did something really bad in a past life, instead of having that bad thing or something worse happen to you in the next life, you could read a story or see a movie and have it affect you so strongly psychologically that you wouldn't have to have the horror repeated on you to be horrified of ever repeating that action again. Or you could also have a nightmare.
