I enjoyed the "First Cow" movie, when I watched it many years ago.

But for some reason, I really don't think I can watch that other film right now. I felt creeped out by the trailer. How much of the protagonist's identity revolves around having a wife and a baby? "Every good man in a historic film should have someone like them around to brighten up his character." It's that squeaky styrofoam / nails on chalkboard feeling. "Run away. Run away. Run away!" Like Monty Python. I don't know, I guess it could change in the future, but that's how it feels right now, and it made me think about the women at this conference.

It's like they want to go back to some 1800s style of living and their crowning achievement is to be a mother and a wife. Well, I guess that's fine for some people. But if everybody just wants to act quiet and nice all the time when they have feelings like this about certain things, then how quickly will any progress ever be made?
Maybe I just have to watch a historic film about a woman who had a bunch of kids and then her husband died and so she went insane and got put into an asylum and then seemed to get better so took her back but then she went crazy again so then they put her back in the asylum. And there she lived out the rest of her days. Maybe I have to watch a film like that.
Maybe not everybody has to do that?
