It had to be acknowledged.

No one was there to see but the cat kept staring. (The cat of the present day reality.)

The cat was simply seeing what was happening. 

Maybe the cat even knew you were going to go inside and start healing just by feeling it (so painful) and acknowledging it and getting better. 

Who can say.

Cat is good. 

Healing is good. 

Maybe even the wound is good? 

The wound helps you heal.

The wound helps you because it tells you what you need to heal.
