This exchange is no longer working out for many people.

A bunch of people have been trained by patriarchal society to act like a few privileged men are far more important than almost all the girls and women from various backgrounds

Some people got more access to money, resources, property, vacations, etcetera, in exchange for going along with that belief system. 

Prejudiced people who got rewarded for stuff like that often seem to want to think that what was good for them is good enough for everyone else, too.
