It's as if some people think that if you care about what's happening to other people, it means you will be depriving yourself of nice things and nice treatment, and it doesn't necessarily have to be that way. What if you care, and you deserve nice things and nice treatment, too? What if you deserve to care? What if that's actually being nicer to yourself?
