Kind of a nice way to read, back in the day.

You would just go into the library and pick up a book.

You wouldn't find a bunch of reviews about it on the internet yet. 

You would just say, this book looks kind of interesting, and all you knew about it was what was on the book flap

Then you took it home and read it and you would be full of surprises.
