What conditions create a place like Lost Hills in the world's supposedly richest country?

I'm also tired because there's been this war going on inside of me for ages, and I think inside of some other people, too, where we're kind of tired of so-called liberal people who claim to be about equality or interested in healing or wanting to make things better actually being just as self-absorbed and materialistic and selfish as the so-called conservative people are.
