"During his time in hiding, Fritz Pfeffer took a Spanish language course. Quite possibly, he was inspired by his desire to emigrate to South America.
A notebook survived from the period in hiding with a Spanish translation in Pfeffer’s handwriting: ‘My journey through the Netherlands: translated from Spanish by Fredo. 16. VI.1943’. The label stuck to the cover reads ‘Holanda, Mi viaje a travès de los Paises Bajos por W. Fernandez Florez.’
