Moms who said "I hate you," when you brought up topics that made them feel very uncertain, or "We don't talk about such people. We send them away to a village" inherited patterns of  discrimination, which is why that treatment of the "others" in society still happens sometimes.

People have hurt themselves and each other because of the hierarchies in their heads.
