Recently I found myself talking to an old friend about our early college days, and I said, "I feel so amazed to think that throughout freshman year, I was in everyone else's room on our floor for a substantial amount of time at some point."

Even if we had different personalities and might not have been friends or hanging out otherwise, I would still go into other girls' rooms just to see what was going on.

We'd watch a movie that I might not have watched if they hadn't been watching it, and eat snacks, or talk about what music we liked, and borrow CDs (like The Pixies!) to make mixed tapes. We didn't have cell phones to distract us, yet, so we'd have to actually look at each other.
