"Maybe in the past so-and-so has been very permissive about lots of really unnecessary & hurtful & dehumanizing-to-others types of behaviors for various misogynistic and racist reasons that would have been unthinkable if so-and-so had been living another set of life experiences. Does that mean so-and-so is incapable of changing for the better throughout the remainder of this lifetime? Of course not!"
