Columbus's immature and insecure colonizer friends who expressed the need for serving girls to put them on pedestals, serving girls with low self-esteem who were too frightened to try to help other women in Hollywood and Academia, and gosh, the whole thing seems based on a lot of stubbornness and fear of change and addiction to old ways.
