If in the future, someone were to write:
"Of course it was tough for them to navigate a complex system of patriarchal white male supremacy, but by watching what others did and falling back on the old failsafes of greed and self-absorption as a survival strategy...well, that was something that really helped them out enormously, at least for a little while..."
